Family subscription - wrong name typed

Family subscription - wrong name typed

Hi, I have switched my premium plan to family subscriptions right now, but while inviting  new member (my wife), there is form to enter "full name" and "address". I typed my wife's details (to invite her), but the page asked for my own details which I didn't noticed! I just didn't expect it. Then I tried to find how change the name to mine, but without any success. Where I can change it? I want to change the name only as we live on the same address. Thnaks for your help.

Hey @stepand76,

 

It’s not possible to change the address registered on an existing Premium for Family subscription. 

 

If you move, or enter the wrong details, you need to create a new account and subscribe to Premium for Family on that account. Don’t forget to cancel the subscription on your old account!

Hey @stepand76,

 

No, unfortunately not. It's part of your address in Premium for Family so you'll have to create a new account and re-subscribe there.

I would like to change my name to my own name rather than my wife's. Which I only entered as the 'invite family members' button that you press directly prior to this is supposed to do just that...direct you to invite family members ..... not enter my own details?

 

Surely Spotify can implement a means of doing something as simple as editing the primary users name without these paying customers having to go through the extreme inconvenience of having to set up a new account to rectify something that occurred (or was at least contributed to) by poor website design??

 

Please suggest a proper solution or implement a fix?

I have just done exactly the same thing. My daughter's name instead seems crazy it can't be changed?

I did the same thing.  Very poor design.

I did the same thing. The page was very misleading or unclear. I believe it's likely that Spotify will have hundreds of families where two members have the same name because of it. I don't want to create a new account because of it and loose all my friends, subscriptions, playlists etcetera. Can you please provide a means to change a basic detail like the family account holder's name?

This has just happened to me now too... VERY poor instructions on the sign up...

 

makes no no sense to not allow the change, the primary name on the family subscription will now NOT MATCH THE CREDIT CARD USED.

It happen to me as well, solution? Cancel my subscription and will not be back until they solve this. It seams surreal that I cannot edit my own address, Let's i move home (not country), I have to creat a new account because Spotify does not allow me to change the address? No way, if I have to make a new account I'll make it elsewhere.

I finally get a premium membership and your invite process made it super simple to make my daughter the primary account holder? And now I need to live with that or cancel everyone's accounts.

I have done the same thing, and now MY BILLING NAME DOES NOT MATCH MY CREDIT CARD. Thanks Spotify, yet again coming in with no solution and of course lets not forget the fact they can't even figure out a telephone number to provide customer service. 

I have searched for a solution almost every month since I first signed up for the family plan, 5 months ago. I have found no solution and I am canceling my family plan.

 

Spotify allows this family premium plan to be as complicated as possible. I would like to change the name on my Family because I have entered my family member assuming that since I was paying for the plan my name would already be on it. It gave no prompt, or warning that I was creating a permanent name for my Family. It simply said, "Let's get started, add your first member". There is no reason for this. I love Spotify, I am very irritated with the family plan. I am a premium member through and through though it is still cheaper to pay $9.99usd than to buy albums on Itunes. Spotify is still my favorite music service. Please fix this Spotify. I will be signing up for your Family Plan again as soon as you do.

I have the same problem. This is clearly an UI issue, how can Spotify not fix this? The suggestion of deleting all the accounts and creating new ones is ridiculous.

I thought I was going bonkers. This is absolutely ridiculous! I just created a new account so that I didn't have to log in with Facebook. Took the opportunity to get Premium Family and click "Invite family members". Fire in my partner's details, then it starts asking me who else I want to invite!? Do a quick invite to my partner to see it is 'from' her as I've already put her details in as myself?! I've never known anything so misleading/poorly designed. And the fact that it appears to be a really, really common error and Spotify don't give a monkeys is clear. I'll give it a month and then try again as suggested earlier in this thread. Otherwise it's off to Apple Music which I'd be on anyway if it worked with Amazon Echoes. **bleep**.

I have reached out to spotify every way posible. They are aware of the issue. The person I talked to on support says "I will reach out to the tech people." We have to be patient though, as it is not a high-prioraty issue. It will eventually be fixed.

I just did the same thing as most everyone. Thought it was asking for the family member to be added and not my own. 

 

Id like to see if there’s a way to change that.
