Hey there!

Thank you for sharing your question with the Community!

Each Family member needs to have a separate Spotify account linked to an individual Google account.
Once these are set up, you can connect the individual accounts to your speakers and play different songs simultaneously 🙂

Let us know if further questions arise.
Cheers!

Hi, to clarify - if all Google Nest devices are linked to one person's Google account, then playing a family subscription on Spotify across multiple devices will not allow different songs/playlists to be listened to simultaneously?

Hi @LWheeler,

Thanks for the reply. That's correct, the Family plan does not allow one account to be used on multiple devices at the same time, it allows several people with their own accounts to use Premium at a lower price. All Spotify accounts can only play on one device simultaneously, regardless if on Family or not.

Hope this clears things up.

Ouch. I recently decided to give Spotify Premium Family a chance over Google Play Music Family. But the fact that we cannot play different music at different rooms on the various Google home devices, it will probably be a deal breaker.

Any chance there is a workaround for it? Having the different speakers linked to different accounts will not work for us.

Hi @JMotaO,

Thanks for the reply. If all the Google devices are linked to different Spotify accounts, then they will be able to play simultaneously. If they are linked to one account, then playback on one will interrupt the other,

Hope this clears things up.

To clarify, in the case above, are you saying a family premium account works as a single account and therefore will interrupt other devices even though both users have independent profiles / accounts within the family acct?  If I'm understanding that correctly and that is the case, is it possible to then use the Voice Profiles for each Google home/nest/whatever user to sync the correct Spotify user/profile to whichever speaker is being used at that time?

Thx,

April

Hey @isabelqlou,

Thanks for posting in the thread.

While a Duo or Family plan is meant for family members living together, you still need your separate Spotify accounts in order for the plan to work. When using each personal account on a speaker, it's also necessary to link the Spotify account to the speaker's manufacturer account, as this is required from both Spotify and the manufacturer. This means that a Spotify account must be linked with an individual speaker manufacturer account, and the speaker can only be used by the account that is currently linked.

There are ways to link multiple accounts to one speaker, however, which may help in your case. Depending on the speaker model, you can try setting up multiple accounts in the same speaker using Google Assistant Voice Match.

Hope this helps! If anything else appears, we're just a post away.

computer speakers are connected to a laptop and a stereo system is connected to Google Nest Hub. Both devices appear in my devices list and I am able to play music on both devices. but only one device at a time!

is it possible to play my music on two devices simultaneously?

Dear all,

I am really struggling to get this all set up on my devices! I have just subscribed to Spotify Premium, which gives me 5 accounts. In my home I have 3 x Google minis, 1 nest hub and 1 nest hub max., I want to be able to listen to different music on different devices simultaneously. Please can anyone give me detailed step by step guidance on how I can do this? I am pulling my hair out...what is left of it that is!

Seems from what I see you need to create 5 separate google accounts, factory reset each up and set it up with each google account using the google home app. It's super annoying but I'm trying that now and it seems to work.

Mine are all linked to different accounts yet they still draw from mine.

My husband and I pay for premium duo, but we can't both listen on separate devices at the same time. I'm the manager, he accepted the invitation and set up his own account. We are both logged into our separate logins but can't get this to work. HELP!

This EXACT problem for myself!!!! Is it solved???
