Login error

Login error

My Question or Issue

Spotify is showing "you are offline" and "try again later" errors even though I'm connected to the internet (WiFi or mobile network) when I open the app. I've done a clean reinstall several times and tested different scenarios, where I could find out that the problem is related to restarting the phone when Spotify is set to offline mode.

When this error happens, I need to clear the Spotify cache and all data or uninstall and reinstall the app so that I can log in again, otherwise. The problem with this is that I need to download all my songs again to listen to them offline (+30 Gb / +2000 songs). I recurrently use Spotify local files to avoid internet consumption when I'm outside and quite often I end up having to restart the cell phone, if I forget to put it in online mode I lose everything again (this is quite annoying especially when traveling).

I would like to know if something is being done to correct this login error without having to delete all downloaded songs

Hey @Victor_Rieger,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community and welcome.

When you're in offline mode, the app will not use a network connection to avoid wasting data. However, the error you're mentioning happens when you log out of your account by mistake when in offline mode.

If the error pops up without logging out from your account, it could be related to some damaged cache stored on your device and that's why you need to reinstall the app every time it happens.

First, we'd recommend checking if you have an SD card in your phone. If so, remove it and try again. Sometimes the cache stored on the SD card affects the proper behavior of the app.

If the issue persists, would you mind checking on a different device (using your own account) to see if it makes any difference? In case you don't have another device available, you can borrow one from a friend or family member to test it.

Lastly, if you still have the issue, include in your next response the Spotify version you're currently running to continue investigating your case.

We'll be on the lookout.

Thanks for your reply, Oscar. In the next week, I'm heading to visit my parents and there I'm gonna test this Spotify issue on my device (Samsung A73 - android 12)  with and without an SD card and on another device (Motorola Edge 20 Pro - android 12). After that, I gonna share what I've found

Hey @Victor_Rieger,

Thanks for your reply.

Don't forget, as mentioned by @Oscar, to send us the exact Spotify version you have running on the affected device if the inconvenience persists.

Take the time you need; we'll be here.

Keep us in the loop!
