Possible refund if moving to family plan

Solved!

Possible refund if moving to family plan

I am looking to start a family plan but the people in my family have just paid for the month already in the last few days. If I was to now add them to my plan would they be able to get a refund as they would no longer use basic individual as they would have moved to the family plan? There is a post about this from 2016 but it’s not very helpful so I was wondering if the money would be refunded automatically or if they would need to request a refund?

On a separate note what happens if one of my other family members are half way through a month. Can they claim half a months charge back into the account.

Hey @xaqsa22x,

Thanks for reaching out.

No refunds are being issued automatically, no matter if you cancel immediately after subscribing or join a Premium Family/Duo plan, for example 🙂 If your family members believe that they're eligible for a refund, they can reach out to Support at https://www.spotify.com/about-us/contact/.

When they join a Premium Family plan, any remaining Premium time is usually lost.

I hope this clears things up!
