Spotify for Kids

Solved!

Spotify for Kids

I'd like to create an account for my seven year old son and I'd like to join his account to my Spotify Premium Family.
I can't create a regular account for him, as he es too young. When trying to install Spotify for Kids it tells me "not available in your region" (We live in Austria/Vienna European Union)
So what should I do now? I am already paying month by month and I don't have any solution for my kid.

What is the official solution, fake the date of birth? Isn't there a better way? Why is Spotify Kids not available in Austria?

Hey @DominikTouring,

Thanks for coming to the Community.

Right now, Spotify doesn't seem to have any immediate plans to launch Spotify Kids in your country, but I recommend checking the Spotify Newsroom from time to time for any updates regarding this. 🙂

I've also made sure to pass your feedback onto Spotify.

Hey @DominikTouring ,

Thanks for coming to the Community.

Keep in mind that there are age restrictions for the regular app. Spotify is designed to be appropriate for listeners 13+ years of age, although the minimum age for using the service varies according to local law. You can find the minimum age for your market in the sign-up flow.

Since Spotify Kids isn't available in your country yet, you could create accounts with email addresses, that you own and put your date of birth 🙂 If that isn't possible, Spotify's Terms and Conditions apply and your kids, unfortunately, won't be able to use the app.

Hope this clears things up!

Hi,

What is the reason of Geo-Blocking Spotify customers in Austria, if Germany is supported? Why is there a seperation of the D-A-CH region?

So basically the solution to use Spotify in Austria for kids is to falsify the date of birth in the account registration and basically use the adult app version of Spotify?

WT*..,

that's something that turned me up.
I just switched my Spotify Duo to Spotify Family to find out that there is no legal way (without faking the day of birth) how to connect/manage a new account for my 10-year-old son. My region is Czechia and I can't even create a new account for him if he is not 15!? I didnt found no way how to manager parental consent for him. What is the relevant reason to have a Spotify Family Plan when my kids have to be almost adults? Spotify Kids is not relevant to my region.

If this is real, I am gone quit Spotify for good.

THX for your answers.

Elmar

It's been almost a year now!

Is there a way to contact the staff of Spotify directly? I'd like to file in an official complaint about that

thanks

You knob. This is not ‘solved’.

Just to clarify, when a post is marked as a solution, it’s because it either solves an issue or provides the correct answer to a question.

In this case, the information shared is still accurate, which is why it remains marked as the solution.
