Spotify kids

Spotify kids

Today I signed up for spotify kids and I thought you could pick song that the parents could approve as well? My child loves some songs by other artists that are not in your kids data base like Aalyiah these are songs that I would like to approve for her and SHARE with her in her playlist.

Hey @nmonroe08 ,

Thanks for reaching out 🙂

While it's not possible to approve individual songs, you can share playlists you create in the Spotify app with your children in the Kids app:

  1. Tap the avatar in the top-left.
  2. Tap Grown ups and enter your PIN.
  3. Tap Shared Playlists.
  4. Pick the playlist you'd like to share.
Tip: Preview it to make sure it's suitable. Songs with explicit lyrics are marked E.
  5. Tap Share.

When you share a playlist with your kids:

  • Your kids hear all songs in the playlist, including any explicit songs.
  • If you add/remove songs from the playlist, it updates for them too.
  • They don’t hear podcast episodes.

You can review songs and cover art before sharing a playlist with your child. When you choose playlists to share, tap a playlist to see tracks in that playlist.

Hope this helps!

Note: I'm not a Spotify employee.

My kids are preteen and teen. I have the explicit tag disabled for their accounts but there are some songs that I would "okay" for example AJRs Burn the House Down. Being able to whitelist songs on a playlist or for their accounts would be great.

Need a kids safe player with the use of Spotify
So no mobile phone preferably preselected access

Spotify kids is quite limited in music choices. I would like to see a much larger selection for my 10 year old to choose from. For example, she really likes Minecraft music, which is all instrumental. She has been limited to 4 Minecraft songs while my account has loads of options. It's not really clear to me why some songs are available and others not. Another example is the Wrinkle in Time soundtrack has a lot of songs she enjoys but only a couple are available.
