question regarding family plan

if someone has a single subcription to spotify with an extensive playlist.... does the playlist follow when i add that person to my family plan....

Yes, playlists belong to an account. An account has a subscription: free, premium, family, etc. When the subscription changes, for example from free to family, the account doesn't change, so all the playlists of the account don't change, the account will have more functionality, like listening songs on demand, instead of shuffle.
