Changing my plan from the free version to student premium

I just need to know how to switch to premium for students. I tried but it says my student credentials are linked to another account (the free version) and I don't know what to do at this point.

It possible you have another account that your student discount is already applied to. In this case, we'd recommend taking a look at this support article on how to locate additional accounts.
