Paying with Google Play for Premium Student

So last month was the first time where I used my student status to subscribe to Premium Student. I used Google Play to pay for it (as you can see in the pic).

However as I wanted to extend my subscription it wasn't possible to pay via Google Play anymore all of a sudden. All the other subscription models can be paid via Google Play so why not Premium Student? But why was it possible the first time and not now?

We'd like to point out that it's now possible to pay for Premium Student via Google Play Billing, however, keep in mind that it's currently possible only on Android devices.

I cannot use the google play balance option to subscribe to the student premium plan on my android device. The option is available for normal premium plan but not for the student premium plan. 

I have verified my student id on sheer but once i move on to the payment screen there is no option for google play

Any ideas or options?

Thanks for the post.

Currently it's not possible to pay for Student Premium with Google Pay. This is why you're not seeing it as a payment option for the Student plan. We recommend using another payment method.

My Question or Issue

Every other plans has the option to choose payment via google play, so that one can pay using the google account, except the student plan. I have some google play credits in the account so I though I would utilize it on my student plan but unable to since it does not have the option.

Unfortunately, some payment methods are only available on selected plans. If you'd like to get Premium Student, you'll need to use one of the payment methods that are being offered to you on the payment page 🙂

Thanks for reaching out. What @Maxim said is correct. In your specific case, we can confirm that for the moment, its not possible to pay for Premium Student with Google. We'll happily pass your feedback onto the appropriate team. Be advised however that we cannot say for certain at the moment when or if this is going to get implemented.

Gift Cards can only be redeemed for regular Premium.

Google Play is not available for Premium Student, and we're not able to confirm it will be any time soon. You can check the payment methods available for this subscription at the checkout page.

Thank you for reaching out to the Community and welcome. 

Currently, it's not possible to use Google Play Billing (GPB) to pay for Premium Student. If you have a Student discount active, you can use a different payment method to keep the discounted price. In case you want to continue paying with your GBP, you can select a different Premium plan.

My Question or Issue

Roughly a month ago my student Spotify premium plan was cancelled. I'm trying to reactivate the same plan but whenever I go to buy it I'm only given 2 options: Debit/credit card or use PayPal. I'm trying to use money from my Google play balance but I'm only given that option whenever I go to any other premium plan.

The availability of payment methods can vary between plans and can change over time. If the payment method you'd like to use, isn't being listed on the payment page, then it's unfortunately not available at the moment.
