Verified Student but can’t change to student plan

I’m currently on the premium family plan (plan manager) but I went back to school this year so sorry family you’re getting cut off as I was hoping to switch to the student premium plan that much more affordable. However, I tried to set it up today and ran into some issues. I was instantly verified (school listed , school email login , verified ) after which I was brought to the page to select the student plan but when I tried I got a message saying “Sorry you are not eligible for that plan. Here are some other ways to get Premium”. I just a few times but kept getting the message, going around in circles.

Welcome to the Spotify Community! It will be a pleasure to help you

 

You mentioned that you have an active Premium Family subscription and are the plan manager. To switch to Premium Student, you will need to cancel your existing Premium and wait until your account becomes free again. You can do this by logging into your account page > In Your Plan > click CHANGE PLAN > scroll to Spotify Free and click CANCEL PREMIUM.

 

Once your account is free, you can sign up for Premium Student. Don't forget that you will also have to verify your student status. If you have problems with verification, I suggest checking this page.

 

Another important thing to note is that when you cancel, all members on your existing Family Plan will also revert to the free, ad-supported service at the end of your current billing cycle.

I am having the same problem. It says I am verified, and then when I get to the place to choose the plan it has an error message ' Sorry, you are not eligible for that plan. Here are some other ways to get Premium.'

I'm a student and I've done the verification with SheerID where it says that the verification is successful, but when I click on the option "Get Discount" nothing happens and my account is still Premium Individual. I've been trying to change this for about 6 months now. I specifically stopped my family plan to get the student discount, but it hasn't been enabled yet.

 same problem .... I can't choose a plan even though I am a verified student.... help otherwise I will complain at a higher level

Keep in mind that if you're in a Family/Duo plan or an individual subscription using a non-recurrent payment method, you'll need to cancel it and revert to the free service in order to subscribe to Premium Student. 

 

If your account is already on the free service or you're using a recurrent payment method, you should be able to subscribe if your discount is already active. In this case, you can try using an incognito window or a different device/internet connection to see how it goes.

 

In case none of the above works, you can try reaching out directly to our Support team here. They can check your account and provide further help if possible.
