Clarification on using social media icons and links under developer terms

Clarification on using social media icons and links under developer terms

Hello! I’m planning to request a quota extension for my website and came across a question regarding the inclusion of social media icons, like Facebook and Instagram, in the footer of my app. These icons would navigate users to my website’s social media pages.

Is this allowed under the developer terms, which state: "Do not create any product or service that is integrated with streams or content from another service"? Or is it acceptable to use social media icons and links in this manner for footer?

Hi there! Adding social media icons in your app’s footer that link to your official pages should be fine, as long as you’re not integrating content or streams from those platforms directly into your app. It’s just a navigation link, so it doesn’t seem to break the terms. But if you’re unsure, it’s always good to double-check with Spotify support!

I think I'll wait for an official response from Spotify support on this topic here, to be sure.

Hi @oneofmanydevelopers

Thank you for reaching out to the Community, and welcome!

I understand your concern about your SDA potentially being rejected if it doesn’t fully comply with Spotify’s guidelines.

While I can’t provide a definitive answer myself, I recommend checking the contact information or email address at the bottom of the Design & Branding Guidelines page. They should be able to offer you more clarity.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Cheers!
