Hello,
A year or two ago I developed a simple script for my account to connect to the API, use the playlists endpoint to find my Discover Weekly playlist, and then record the tracks within my app. However, it now seems that the Discover Weekly playlist is not returned at all.
I have also tried finding the playlist via the 'search' endpoint but it doesn't seem to be returned there either. Additionally I've tried directly loading the playlist via ID (37i9dQZEVXcEmSW1NYDHS4) but am given a 'resource not found' response.
Is it no longer possible to retrieve the personalised playlists via the API or is there any advice please?

Hi @Yorkiebar18,
Welcome to the Community, and thanks for bringing up your question here!
Spotify introduced changes to the API on November 27, 2024.
Apps that did not have an approved or pending quota extension before this date no longer have access to retrieve playlist information for playlists where Spotify is the user (e.g., Discover Weekly).
You can find more details about these changes on this page.
I hope this helps clarify things! Let me know if you have further questions—I’m happy to assist.
Cheers!

Hi there,
Thanks for your quick and helpful response, much appreciated!
Am I right to think that in this case it is impossible for new apps to gain the required access for this, or can it be requested somehow?
Hi @Yorkiebar18
Unfortunately, it’s not possible for new apps to gain the required access for this functionality. Let me know if you have any other questions or need further clarification.
Cheers!
This kind of sucks. I just spent so much time trying to write code to retrieve and automate saving my playlists. Spotify is going to the gutters.
I can't believe this has been removed... This was, no joke, one of my major reasons to stay with Spotify...
I'm fine with changes, but removing features from the API is just bad practice...
