Got Giftcard from another country as a gift, and now I can't accept it

My Question or Issue

Hello, so, I got a gift card from my girl friend, because she was in Austria and wanted to make me feel happy. I live in Czechia, so I've tried to redeem this giftcard, of course, unsuccesfully, because of the another country issue. But, I have already Spotify Premium, and when I follow the guide, how to change the country, it didn't work. I tried refresh the subscription by changing the country there, but that said me just: "This payment method is not accepted from this country". Please, tell me, what to do.

You're able to redeem a Spotify gift card in the same country that it was purchased. There's more information regarding gift cards here. 

When you change your country on your Spotify account, it has to also match the country your payment method is registered from. In your case, if you are trying to change your country from Austria to Czechia, your payment method must be issued from Czechia for the change to be processed successfully.

Hi, thanks for answering! Unfortunately, I have no opportunity to somehow change the payment method to that country, so I cannot redeem the gift card. What should I do with that gift card then? Thanks once more!

In this case, I’d recommend sending the gift card back to your girl friend who can go back to the store where she purchased it and get a refund.

An alternative here would be for her to send you money and then you can purchase a gift card at a leading electronics retailer near you or online. There’s more information on gift cards here and how to redeem it.
