Paying for Premium with a Wise card but it says the country does not match

Paying for Premium with a Wise card but it says the country does not match

Australia moving to Ireland

My Question or Issue

I am originally from Australia but am studying in Ireland and am wanting to switch to a Student Premium subscription. I have a Wise card in order to have a card in Euros here in Ireland, and the billing address for that card is my address in Ireland.

I am trying to switch my Spotify account location from Australia to Ireland in order to be able to get Student Premium as my verification is for the University here in Ireland. However, when I try to both pay for Student Premium or even just to change my account location for a normal Premium subscription, I am told that 'Your payment method and country don't match. To continue, change your account's location or use a different payment method.' However, I cannot change my account's location without it accepting the payment method!

What do I do? Please help!

Hey @mederbimm,

Thanks for reaching out.

The first thing I recommend doing is asking the issuer of your card (Wise) if your card has been issued in Ireland. If it wasn't, then you'll unfortunately need to use a different payment method.

Let me know how it goes! 🙂

Hi Maxim, this does not work in so many ways! Why is Spotify forcing me to have a bank account for every country I live in? I am an expat and I move countries a lot and I want to have the right recommendations per country without having to constantly move and create new bank accounts. Why are you not allowing me flexibility in this?
