Payment failed because of 3D security

Payment failed because of 3D security

I am from Turkey and I cannot complete the payment because my card requires 3D security in the site it is used. It is really weird and hard to understand that Spotify does not support that security method and so most of the cards (at least for me) do not work. The reason they do not work was told me that it is about the 3D security.

I need to make the payment but no matter what card I use, almost all of them uses 3D security. I have been making the payment via my friend's card and I now need to cancel it. However, I cannot replace his with any other cards because of this issue.

How can I make the payment? I cannot use my phone for this. I have an Ininal (I have no idea if it's known or not) card except for my bank card but it also requires 3D security as far as I know. Is it possible to disable this security step for a while just to make the payment?

It says: Payment failed. Try again or use another payment method.

Hey there @catchmeifucan

Thanks for reaching out - we’re here to help!

Have you tried how it goes in a private/incognito window? This step makes sure you avoid issues with your browser's cache. If that doesn't do the trick try again in a different kind of browser.

It's also a good idea to log in to your Spotify account on another device just to check if you observe the same. If it doesn't occur on a different device, we'd suggest making sure that your original device is up to speed with any software updates available.

Hope this helps. Keep us posted.

It's completely related to the 3D security thing. I asked an advisor this and this was the thing she told me.

I'm having the exact same problem, payment for premium fails and i get a phone notification that this was due to the spotify not accepting 3d secure.

Hey there @perphenazine2mg,

Thanks for the post.

We'd recommend turning to your bank/ financial institution and ask them why this might have happened. Make sure that foreign transactions are enabled on your card.

Keep us posted on how you get on with this.

Hi, and thanks for the reply. Foreign transactions are enabled on my card, and i perform those without problems regularly. Could it be that the 3d protocol needs periodical updating on the Spotify side?

Hi @perphenazine2mg,

Thank you for keeping us in the loop.

Even if your card uses 3D security, it should be accepted as long as it is enabled to make foreign recurring payments without the need to do anything else.

Could you try to enter your card using a different device and from an incognito window?

Let us know how this goes!

Hi!

My bank replied that the payment was rejected because Spotify does not use adequate technical protocol for for processing tansaction (does not have latest version of 3D authorisation). Apparently since 01.01.2021. there is requirement to use Safe payment methods on Internet. It is in force for both EU service providers & card issuers. Apparently if you don't comply bank rejects the payment.

So many years and this is still valid! Spotify is an europan company, so why doesn't it accept 3D secure?!
