[Android] Albums won't load in offline mode

[Android] Albums won't load in offline mode

Device

Redmi Note 8 Pro

Operating System

Android 10

Well, the issue is in the title. When I try to open any album I was not listening to while I was online, it just says that 'something went wrong'. I've seen some guys on Reddit fixed this with deleting albums with 'weird' symbols in album's or artist's name, like, for example, Russian symbols. But since I'm russian there's a plenty russian music I'd like to listen to, so that's not a fix for me. Is there anything I can do? There is about 500 albums downloaded, can this cause problems?

Hey there @anzan

Help’s here!

It's not very likely that the amount of albums you've downloaded could be causing this issue. Usually issues related to offline music are linked to the cache on your device. You can try running a clean reinstall to make sure any corrupted cache or files from previous installations get removed. Here you'll find tips on how to do this.

If you see no change after performing this step, try disabling any power saving or data cleaning settings on your Android device. Alternatively, you can try authorizing Spotify to run without restrictions despite the mentioned settings being enabled. Make sure you try this since these features can often prevent the app from operating at full capacity.

Let us know how you get on! We'll be here in case you need any further help with this.

I tried clean reinstall and giving all permissions to spotify app but it wouldn't help.

Hey @anzan,

Thanks for getting back to us.

Do you mind sending us a screenshot displaying the error message you receive? You can do this by using the Insert Photos option in the post editor. This way we can take a closer look at the issue.

In the meantime, make sure you try logging in to your Spotify account on a different device just to check if you observe the same with offline albums.

We'll look out for your reply.

Well, I've got no other mobile devices to check this right now, but here's screenshot

Hi again @anzan,

Thanks for the screenshot.

On newer versions of Android there is this feature called "Doze" which restricts data usage of certain apps to save battery.

You can customize which apps are affected by this Doze feature by following the steps below:

1: Open the Settings app on your phone (Pull down the notifications shade, and tap the gear in the upper right corner, or find Settings in the App Drawer.)
2: Tap Battery.
3: Tap the menu button and choose Battery optimization.
4: Tap the dropdown menu at the top of the screen and select All apps.
5: Scroll down to Spotify - tap it and select Don't Optimize

Note: Menu order may differ depending on your device.

Now Spotify will not be controlled by the Android system's power saving enabling it to run in the background.

If that doesn't help, let us know if you're using a SD card on your phone and if your Offline songs are being saved to the SD card or your phone's internal storage.

We'll be on the lookout for your reply.
