My Question or Issue

A few weeks ago Spotify suddenly stopped playing new music!! I didn't change any settings but suddenly I noticed that when a playlist of mine finished it just stopped (before then it would always play onwards with related songs to my playlist) I never had that happen before. Then I noticed that when I searched on a new artist and pressed play it wouldn't play! This has been the case for the last few weeks. Spotify is still creating new playlists for me like Discover Weekly and I can play those. But anything that's not part of a playlist won't play and it still doesn't play new songs when a playlist has finished. I definitely didn't change any settings, it just suddenly changed itself! I have looked through the settings and the only relevant one I can fine it autoplay which is definitely switched on, and has been switched on this whole time. Please help!

Many thanks

I forgot to mention I'm using Windows 10 but never had this happen before. I also tried logging out and in again as well as uninstalling Spotify and reinstalling it but still the same problem

Hey @k88k,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community.

The option that must be active is the same one you found on "Autoplay" and "Autoplay in other devices". As you mentioned that those are active, this issue could be caused by stored cache.

We understand you’ve already tried some troubleshooting steps including reinstalling. However, we’d like to suggest a clean reinstall as this is more thorough than a regular one and can be helpful to get rid of any cache that might be causing trouble.

If that doesn't do the trick, could you try it in a different device or the Web Player to see if it makes any difference? This will give us a better look at the issue to help you further.

We'll be waiting for your response.

Thanks for this Oscar. This is may be a silly question but if I do a clean reinstall is there a risk that I'll lose all my music and playlists?

Thanks

Hey @k88k,

Thanks for the post.

There are no silly questions 🙂 When you do a clean reinstall your Playlists/ Artists/ Album etc. will stay intact on your account. You will only have to re-download any playlists you had downloaded for offline listening, since they're stored in the Spotify data which gets cleared in the process.

Keep us posted on how you get on.

Thanks Oscar and Alex! And good news I just tried the "clean reinstall" and it worked! I'm not sure why it did that as I didn't change any settings but it's working again 🙂

Thanks a lot!
