My Question or Issue
In the past couple of weeks I have noticed an issue where my daylist has been updating when it shouldn't. It essentially refreshes every time I go to a different page of Spotify and then go back. For example, let's say I start playing my daylist at 1pm. It says the next update is at 2:52pm. After listening to a few songs, I click onto the artist of a song and go to their artist page. When I click the back button in the app to return to my daylist, it's a new daylist despite the fact that it's only 1:15pm. Additionally it says the next update is at a new, later time. If I go to a new page immediately after loading the daylist, I have not noticed this issue. It only seems to happen after I have had the daylist pulled up for 10-ish minutes before clicking onto a new page.
I have also noticed this issue when my computer goes to sleep and I wake it back up (again, the previous "next update" time has not been reached yet), which I have not noticed in the past. The version of Spotify I am running is Spotify for macOS (Apple Silicon) 1.2.58.498.g6afe77b7.

My Question or Issue
I have an issue with daylist in Spotify. It randomly updates despite the time for the next update not being reached. For example the last time this happened my daylist updated at 2155. But the update was meant to be at 2221. I navigated away from the daylist in order to view an album from one of the songs and when I came back I lost the daylist I was on and was given a new one.
This has happened to me many times in recent days. Normally it happens if I don't engage with the daylist after generating it. But engage closer to the time when the next update will occur. This happens on multiple devices.
Hey there @crookshenks and @plath,
Thanks for reaching out via the Community!
We couldn't reproduce this behavior with the daylist playlist from our end and as this is happening on different devices, it's worth performing some troubleshooting in case you've not already done so.
It would be great if you could give the Spotify app a clean reinstall with the steps here as it helps resolve different performance issues and includes steps to clear the cache.
Additionally, please also test in the Web Player if the daylist would update when you navigate away from it.
Lastly, if it's possible ask a relative or a friend to log in to their account on your device(s) and let us know if they experience the same.
Appreciate the cooperation and hope to hear from you soon 🙂
I'm having this issue, and a clean reinstall didn't work. I frequently reload and restart Spotify, which also hasn't had an impact.
ETA: Not sure if this is relevant, but the daylist always has a "next update" time that's three hours from now when it updates too frequently.
Hey Ivelina, any luck getting the problem to reproduce?
I mentioned the "next update" always being exactly three hours away from the time I check the daylist. Here's proof.
This is only happening some of the time, but is happening more and more frequently. Try to reproduce it again.
You see how the "next update" time I posted was at 2:44 PM? Well, it's 1:08 PM now and the daylist just updated.
FYI, it happened again today. The playlist claiming to update exactly three hours away from the time I check the daylist is still happening, too.
Hey @emimeni,
Thanks for reaching out!
The daylist updates multiple times throughout the day and you should potentially see new playlists in the early morning, morning, afternoon, evening, night, late night, and more. If you stayed on your daylist through the “next update at” time, it won’t refresh on its own, and f you navigate away and come back, you should see an updated daylist.
At Spotify, we’re always looking for opportunities to enhance the listening experience for both fans and creators. We routinely conduct a number of tests, and some of them may ultimately end up paving the way for our broader user experience. We don’t have any further news to share at this time, but we really appreciate your input on this!
Take care.
Hi,
I’m a little confused by this: “If you stayed on your daylist through the “next update at” time, it won’t refresh on its own, and [i]f you navigate away and come back, you should see an updated daylist.” Is this behavior on purpose or not? The reason I created this thread was because the daylist didn’t used to do this, and it doesn’t make sense when it does. If I am actively listening to a playlist that updates at X time, and I click off of it, why would it then completely reload before that time? It makes the rest of the app completely unusable while listening to the playlist unless you want a completely new one. I thought this was a bug, which again is why I created the thread. And the initial reply to my issue from Ivelina agrees that it’s not expected behavior.
EDIT: sorry, I misread your reply. That’s not the issue here. The issue is that it’s updating when you navigate away and come back before the “next update” time.
@Dessi,
I know how daylists work; that's not the issue. The problem is that the daylists are updating before the "next update" time, and they're always three hours from the time they update. Please re-read the thread, and possibly reach out to Ivelina.
I’m also been experiencing this the past few weeks. Really annoying. And there’s a whole Reddit thread of people reporting the same: https://www.reddit.com/r/truespotify/comments/1jbas2g/is_daylist_supposed_to_be_updating_every_hour3...
I've also been experiencing this issue! I may start tracking when they chance because I'm not certain exactly how often it happens, but I've had multiple instances of Daylists updating an hour or more early, mid-way through listening to the playlist.
It's frustrating because daylists are irrecoverable and often contain a lot of new music I'll likely never find again. I would save them immediately and start listening to make sure the new songs aren't lost, but it makes it annoying to see which music is new vs old because you can't distinguish between saved and liked songs.
Generally just a very frustrating issue with a feature I sincerely enjoy. This isn't a new issue for me, but it got on my nerves enough today to find this forum to post. :') My daylists pretty much never update at the time they say they're going to.
Any help would be sincerely appreciated.
Edit: I should note this is a cross-device issue, not just because a page isn't refreshed. I specifically check the time a playlist will change to make sure I can listen to the new music before it changes... only for it to change earlier than it says it will.
A question for people also experiencing this:
When the daylist updates (whether or not it's early), is the "next update" time exactly three hours from the present? Or is it the normal "3.5 hours away give or take some change"?
Also, if you have someone who can log into their account on your device, please report back. Thanks!
It seems to happening to me less often, but I use it to build other playlists, not to listen to. This means I don't linger as long. YMMV.
Mine is exactly 3 hours. It will show the playlist length as ~3 hours (right now it’s 2h48min) but the update time is 3 hours on the dot.

Right, it's three hours on the dot, which is unusual for me. It started being "on the dot" when the daylists started updating too frequently. I assume it's the same for you, but correct me if I'm wrong!
@emimeni Yes, the update time is always 3 hours from present for me!
My daylist is also over way earlier than the stated “next update” too. Someone plz fix the issue, I need my fun daylists to last! 😭
Spotify, I know the "refreshing prematurely" might be hard to reproduce, but the "next update always exactly 3 hours in the future" thing shouldn't be. Please give us an update.

FYI, I linked this thread from the reddit thread. I doubt many people will join from Reddit, but it could, hypothetically, happen.
