Discovery weekly has been progressively getting worse

Discovery weekly has been progressively getting worse

I used to love listening to the discover weekly on Spotify! It always had good music that I'd add to my playlists ...

Over the last few months especially it's become particularly awful though ...

I hide the songs i don't like, just for them to show up a few weeks later in discover weekly ...

Today i think i had like two songs i didn't click hide on? And they were already in my playlist anyway ..... Hardly discovering new music.

Please make it go back to how it used to be when it was actually good.

Hi Jeremy,
You're probably tired of seeing my face here, but this is not a good answer because none of the recommended things in the top answer actually helps - and we have years of evidence to say that they don't.

-Are you sure you're not listening in a private session? Yeah, pretty sure most of us aren't
-Save your favourite songs? The problem includes that liked and disliked songs still can appear in your discover playlist, so that legitimately doesn't help
Unfollow/Refollow - That doesn't work, there's enough evidence to say that it doesn't. (namely weekly posts from people complaining about how this feature isn't working as intended)

This is really unhelpful, and throws the blame on frustrated users who have to deal with what I assume is actually an intentional design decision by spotify. And, in that case, then the feature name and intended functionality (based on previous responses) is actually misleading. Either it's a "sponsored artist playlist with vaguely interest matched direction" that doesn't care about repeats, the user's liked/disliked artists and songs, or even follows the directive of "discover".
I don't know if you're trying to pull the rug out from under our feet about this, but it sure feels like someone higher up the ladder doesn't want us to actually get some new and interesting music.

Totally agree. Nearly every song has been substituted with an inferior cover version by a lesser known artist, so the royalty costs are minimised for Spotify. Discovery Weekly is garbage now, because of Spotify's cost cutting. ๐Ÿคฎ
