Downloads not removing once deleted from computer

Solved!

Downloads not removing once deleted from computer

Hello! I have been having this problem for a while. When I delete a song from my device (Dell laptop, windows 10) it doesn't remove it from the app. I can't listen to it, but it won't remove itself from my library. I have tried clearing my cache, and I have also tried deleting my local-files file in the folder, but neither have worked as the cache didn't do anything and deleting the local-files just deleted my entire folder save for like, 4 files.

My local files have always been a bit glitchy but it seems no matter what I do, it won't work properly. I normally wouldn't mind but it says I have 467 tracks because it decided to log all of the OFF soundtrack and hasn't gotten rid of it despite me deleting it ages ago...

Is there any way to fix this? I'm using free Spotify, and I'm in the USA. I'm worried I'm just gonna have to wipe it all and fight with it to upload all my stuff again. 😞

Hey @hollyleaf,

Thank you for reaching out here in the Community.

Can you let us know if you've already tried to log out > restart your device > log back in? We'd recommend to do that two times in a row. It sounds a bit odd, but it forces a sync between the account and your device.

If you still experience this, it might be caused by an issue with your device's cache. Not to worry, performing a clean reinstall of the app on the affected device should help you solve this. It'll also get you the latest app version with all necessary updates and fixes and will remove any corrupted files from previous installations.

Hope this helps. Let us know how it goes 🙂

Thank you!! The clean reinstall fixed it; I'm just hoping it got everything since it didn't before 😥 Everything looks good though!
