Erratic results when adding local file songs to playlists

I have a couple of albums that are sourced from local files as they are not on Spotify. My Mac is synced to a folder where I have just the albums I want to see in Spotify and my phone is getting them from my Apple Music app (same two albums).

When I add songs from the local files to my playlist the results are not consistent. For example, I add two songs from the same album to my 'Liked Songs' on either device and one will be available to play on the other device and one won't. I have played around with it and it is consistently the same songs that are behaving like this.

Any ideas please?

It's worth mentioning that there's some changes to the way that local files work and this means that you sometimes may encounter issues with syncing them between different devices. Some users may even no longer be able to sync them at all. 

To ensure that you'll be able to listen to the local files without issues, you need to have the actual tracks stored on all of your used devices. For example, if you've got them in a folder on the Mac at the moment, you'll also have to have them stored on the phone so that they work.
