My Question or Issue

It's a bit hard to properly explain. I have a list of liked songs from an artist, but if I go into the album the songs come from, the songs don't show up as liked. This also applies to playlists and the like, so the songs won't be recommended and all that.

If I relike the song, it will appear as a duplicate in my liked list. If I unlike the old version, both versions of the song get unliked.

This problem happens specifically to artists, and it only ever clears entire albums. Sometimes an album or two is safe from the purge, but it isn't common. I can't predict what artist was struck by this bug and when. It doesn't seem to matter how many songs are in the liked list, as I've seen the one song I have liked by an artist be unliked. I imagine this may be caused by the fact that I have just over 3000 liked songs, and maybe Spotify just can't handle that many?

This happens to me pretty often, and I hate having to relike the songs because then the date added is technically incorrect and, while it isn't the end of the world if I have to keep doing this, it bugs me.

Images demonstrating the most recent occurence of this problem are shown below.

Hey @_WERM_,

Thanks for posting in the Community.

Sometimes there are two versions uploaded by the distributor, but they have different URIs that point to the same backend resource. Hence the app treats them as the same song.

Hope this clears things a bit.

Cheers!

So basically when an artist reuploads songs at a later time, it overrides the previous one? Why would they reupload in the first place?

And is there any way to stop this from happening? It's been happening to me more frequently lately

Sorry I'm getting back to you so late; I forgot to check back here 😅

Hey @_WERM_,

No worries, we're on the lookout almost all the time!

Songs can sometimes get removed and later re-added and that is mostly dependent on the record labels and the artists themselves. There's sadly not much we can currently do about it.

The good news is, however, that likeminded folks have posted an Idea on our forum regarding this exact same thing 🙂
Check it out here and, if you feel like doing so - you can also leave a vote for it!
Despite its current status, the more votes it gets - the better its chances for a quicker implementation!

Hope this helps! We're here for you should anything else come to mind.
