My Question or Issue

I did it once a couple months ago it worked fine, I tried doing it again on a different PC and it didn't work, I've tried every reddit post and Community Post but nothing is working. My Spotify is not blocked by my firewall, I've enabled Offline sync on my iphone, I've tried moving the location of the songs I've tried every troubleshoot I've found but it just doesn't work. I'll give  a run down of what I do in case it's just me missing something because I'm so angry.

I download the song, put it through Tag Scanner, I put it in my music folder, I go into spotify enable local files and enable the path, I create a new playlist with all the songs, I close spotify on my Iphone and press download on my PC, I then open spotify and go to the new playlist, I press the download button and the button just goes green, there's no installation of any song like normal.

I'm starting to lose hope any help is appreciated

Hey there!

To properly download local files, you need to open your desktop application along with the mobile app. Spotify syncs them and they are saved to your device. If I read correctly then you closed desktop app and then tried saving. Try this and we will be here if you need anything else.

More about local songs.

I tried your solution and it still didn’t work 😞

Hey there @Michael_07,

Thank you for your post here in the Community.

To sync local files from one device to another, you must be actively logged in to both devices with Spotify open and on the same network

Local files can be turned on/off in the Settings menu.

Can you double-check that you've followed all of the support site steps correctly.

It's also useful to double-check that you have connected both devices to the same Wi-Fi.

If that doesn't do the trick - can you try the following:

  • Add some songs from our catalogue to the playlist as well as the local file/s and make sure they have ‘Show unavailable songs in playlists’ turned on in Settings

  • Play some music on the device that has the local files to see if it shows via Connect on the other device

  • Make sure the router supports the Bonjour protocol. If the router is made after 2005, it will likely have this protocol. The best way to handle this is to check the router make/model and Google it

Keep us posted. We're always one reply away.

Cheers!
