My Question or Issue

I'm trying to get mp3 files from my desktop onto my spotify app on my phone. I was able to get the mp3 files into the desktop app and play them just fine, but once I made a seperate playlist with the mp3 files, and went to that playlist on my phone the mp3 files are grayed out and I'm unable to play them from my phone. I've downloaded the playlist on my phone as well and it still wont let me play them. How do I successfully move mp3 files to my phone and play them with no problem? I remember when I was younger, doing this exact thing on Apple Music with incredible ease compared to what I'm running into with Spotify, so I'm sure this is possible.

Hey Luan,

This worked on my PC but when I just tried this on my Iphone, the "Local Files" playlist is not appearing after enabling the setting. To add to this, I already have transfered the mp3 file to the "Files' app on the Iphone, and it is stored on the actual Iphone hard drive and not iCloud.

The mp3 files I'm trying to add are DJ sets that are over 60 minutes long in most cases. Would this possibly have something to do with the problem?

Edit: OK! I figured it out! What I had to do was go into the "Files" app and actually move them into the premade Spotify folder that must have been created when Spotify was downloaded. I hope this Thread can help anyone struggling with this same problem as I was.

Thanks,

Glen

Hey, @GlenJW
Welcome to the Spotify Community, and thanks for reaching out to us!

To have access to your MP3 files, you must have them on each device you want to play them. In this case, the best approach would be uploading them to your phone. You can find more information about how it works here:

Stay awesome! 🎶
