Moving songs from a playlist to Liked Songs

Moving songs from a playlist to Liked Songs

So I'm moving all of my songs from a playlist into my "Liked Songs".

There are 1590 songs in that playlist, however when I highlight them all and move them to my "Liked" only 1560 appear in that area. What's going on? I really don't want to lose the 30 songs but with the other 1560 its impossible to tell which 30 I'm missing. How can I get around this? I've tried it multiple times.

Hey @langerzc,

Thanks for reaching out!

Just to make sure you're doing the same thing I am on my end -
Are you trying to add the songs to your 'Liked' playlist on a desktop device?
I can do this by holding Ctrl+A to select all of the songs -> right clicking -> saving them to the 'Liked Songs'.

This should technically add all of the selected items, however - note that any songs already saved in your 'Liked Songs' will not be added a second time.

To make sure the count is correct - you can add the songs -> remove them and then re-add them.
This will ensure that the entire list has been removed from your favorites before it gets included again.

Hope this helps! We're here in case there's anything else 🙂

Hi thanks for getting back to me!

Yes, I confirm that is what I've been doing. I've actually been starting from 0 Liked Songs so it's very easy to tell what is being transferred to that playlist. Here is the playlist in question..

Hey @langerzc,

Thanks for getting back to us!

Some of the songs in the shared playlist are greyed out due to their current general or regional unavailability, which might be the reason why you're not seeing them being carried over to the Liked Songs.

When I tried liking all of the items, 1589 items were carried over, which would have been ideal if I was seeing only one greyed out song on my end. I see two.
With some further looking into this I figured out that the greyed out songs were getting transferred to the Liked playlist but only if there was a non-greyed out song after them.
As the last song from your playlist is greyed out for me, it was simply not getting included for some reason.

Could you take a look which titles are greyed out for you? I have a pretty good feeling it's these that are causing the issues.
Hope this helps!

Hi,

I only have 1 song greyed out ... so not the issue unfortunately 😞

Hey again @langerzc,

This is quite odd. Thanks for replying!

Let's try removing the cached data of the app to see if that would make a difference.
If you wish to take things a step further you can also go for a complete clean reinstall of the app itself. This will ensure there are no Spotify files left on your system before you install the app again.

Aside from this, there's one more thing that comes to mind -
Select all songs and then manually, while holding Ctrl, unselect a few of the items at the bottom of the playlist while remembering their count. A nice round number would best suit our needs here.

Do this and try liking the rest of the songs. See if the correct number gets added. If it does - manually select only the previously unselected items (with Ctrl + left click) and try adding these as well.

If any of the two batches of songs return a number of liked items different than what is expected, at least we'll have an idea where to look next in order to narrow down whatever is at fault.

Keep us posted 🙂

Good solution, but I have a question - could songs be copied (liked) in the same order as it was added in the playlist?
