New Spotify playlists I make aren't appearing in my library

New Spotify playlists I make aren't appearing in my library

I made a playlist and it just wasn't appearing at all in my library. I've then made like 5 more playlists and they also don't appear at all. They come up on my recently played but not on my profile or library. I've done everything that I've seen for solutions for this on here but not of them have done anything. I've deleted the app and reinstalled, logged out, etc and they're still not appearing. I even checked on desktop and the playlists are not appearing on there either. I don't know what to do, it's like I can't make playlists anymore because they just vanish.

My Question or Issue

Newly created playlists aren't added to my library anymore. When I try to create a new playlist it instantly gets removed from my library after saving on desktop clients or mobile clients. Webclient says "something went wrong".

Whenever I create a playlists, it is always named "My Playlist #1,218" on desktop and webclient and "My Playlist #1,228" on iOS and they are public playlists, which is weird because the setting in my profile for "Publish my new playlists on my profile" is Disabled, for years already.

I can however give the playlist a name, add songs to it and share it with a URL. With this URL I can find the playlist back. This is however not a viable way to manage playlists at all.

I already tried to change a lot of publicly created playlists to private, as I have the idea that I have more public playlists then spotify allows, but sadly this didn't help.

I also tried to remove playlists from my profile: they stay there, I can't delete them. Message says: "Playlist is no longer displayed on your profile" but they stay there.

I've already cleared my cache, logged out everywhere, logged in a new session on Desktop / mobile (or in the browser in a private session) but that also doesn't make any difference at all.

Additionally, I revoked the access for all apps. This also didn't make any difference. I'm out of options for what I can try I guess.

I've got the same problem, see: https://community.spotify.com/t5/Your-Library/Newly-created-playlists-aren-t-added-to-library/td-p/6...

Hopefully spotify will look into this 🙂

I’m so glad it’s not just me!!! I was looking for solutions and nothing, it’s so annoying. If you manage to come across a solution please let me know!!

I can't create any playlist right now....i right click on a song...create new playlist...it shows briefly in my library and then disappears.   help...please

I also experience this and also I'm Unable to remove or add playlists to my library (see https://community.spotify.com/t5/Your-Library/Unable-to-remove-or-add-playlists-to-my-library/m-p/64...)

I re-installed Spotify on my laptop....seemed to fix the problem

Hey folks,

Thanks for getting in touch about this here in the Community.

Just to confirm, is this only happening in the mobile app or in the desktop app as well (if you create the playlist on the desktop app)? Also, does the same happen if you use a different network?

If you haven't tried yet, we suggest that you log out and log back in to your accounts twice in a row. We know this sounds odd, but it'll trigger a sync between your account and device.

If this doesn't do the trick, it's well worth running a clean reinstall of the app to get rid of any cached files that might be causing trouble.

However, if the aforementioned steps don't make any difference, could you provide us with the following info?:

  • Make/model and OS of your affected device
  • Exact Spotify version
  • Short screen recording of the issue happening
  • All additional troubleshooting steps you've tried

We'll be waiting for your replies.

Eni, I also contacted Spotify Support and went through some additional checking and testing, the Escalations Team has forwarded my support request to relevant teams. In my request I also pointed out the replies/topics here, so hopefully this accelerate things.

The exact same thing is happening to me.

Hello, thanks for replying. I’ve done all the steps above and I’m still having the same issues.

iPhone 15

iOS 18.0.1

Spotify 8.9.84

I’ve cleared cache, deleted the app and reinstalled it, restarted my phone, updated the app and my phone.

I screen recorded my issues but it won’t let me upload them.

I have the same issue where I've tried many times to create a new playlist and it keeps disappearing. I always make a new playlist and it's always playlist #112. I've re-installed the app as well as well and cleared the cache.

Getting really tired of this issue.

This is now working for me on Desktop, mobile app and web player. I can create playlists on all apps

Hey folks,

Thanks for all the replies here and for the info shared.

@Yeprock, @jhkhjk, thanks for letting us know about this. Would you mind sending us the info Eni asked here? That way, we'll continue investigating this issue. Make sure to try the troubleshooting that was suggested as well, as clean reinstalling the app seems to solve this issue.

@steephh, we really appreciate you raising this to the right team. If you've tried some troubleshooting and this issue persisted, we invite you to share here the details Eni asked for above.

@lauramxy, you can attach the video in your next reply in mp4 format, or you can also upload it to YouTube or Google Drive and make it public, so we can watch it.

@pilateswJennifer, @aprudencio, thanks for keeping us in the loop! We’re happy to know you could sort this out. Don't hesitate to post here if the app starts behaving again.

We'll be on the lookout!
