My Question or Issue
The issue is occurring for my Phone and Computer Browser
Recently, at random and at insane quantities, songs that I have listened to formerly are being added to my Liked Songs! Like 2 days or so ago I was at like 850 but today I am at 2800! I am guessing it has to do with API but no API previously has done sth like this! I have looked around the web but no help.
And weirdly enough, it gets weirder! Luckily, the songs being added is not limited to my computer (for some weird reason) and thus I have managed to back up my complete 'Liked Songs' into a temporary playlist.
After backing them up I restarted my Spotify but the number of 850 still remains.
I opened a Web Browser instance but the number is 2800.
Any ideas? Thanks. Cheers
Solved! Go to Solution.
I have reinstalled and signed in from my desktop and now it is showing 2883. I have deleted the modified entries (which occured 5 days ago) and I ended with a total of 300 Liked Songs! So, I lost a total of 500 Liked Songs! I did re-Like Song them (thankfully from the backup I made), but I did lose the date-information from the track of when I added the song... Not too much of a bummer. But still, I do not know what caused it. It is likely to have been a result of a 3rd party API; however, I don't recall ever an instance where I would willingly or where a transaction mention Liking 2000 songs... I have inquired some suspect 3rd Party API; HOWEVER, these API services do not have access to modifying/accessing Liked Songs... I'll close this for now.
Since I have removed many API from my account, and IF it is related to API it will likely not happen again. However, I will update if occurrence happen again.
Hey @HanWuGe,
Thanks for reaching out about this here in the Community.
Just to confirm, what are the devices you've experienced this issue with? And did you already double-check you're logged in to the same account across all such devices?
In terms of trouble-shooting this, what have you tried exactly? Something you should absolutely give a shot to if you haven't already, is a clean reinstall of the app on the devices you've experienced this with. Here you'll find all the steps. This should help the app get rid of any temporary issues.
Hope you'll find this useful. Let us know how you get on!
Yes they are all the same account. Thankfully, part of the problem was a saviour to some degree. Since I managed to save my Liked Songs list.
But the issue is literally cloud based and not local bug problem--this is noted by the fact that if Iogin via Spotify Web Browser, 2800 Liked Songs appear rather than 850 or whatever.
I restarted Spotify on my Laptop and with each restart, it was slowly adding songs to the 'Liked Playlist'--not good.
This has already the second time this has happened. The first time it bumped it up to 950 and at that time, I manually removed the added songs but it somewhat unorganized my Spotify Liked--no problem I thought. A few days afterwards, when I randomly check my phone it is up to 2800! I CANNOT manually remove 2000 songs or whatever... And if sch a thing were to happen again, it all would have been for nothing...
Right, I simply need a solution that doesnt require me abandoning my Liked Songs or my account lol . But right now, I do not feel comfortable adding songs to 'Liked Songs'.
I accessed my account and removed some Spotify API, hopefully that solutionize the problem. However, I do have a question regarding Spotify API-based Software: Do sch have access to my modifying via adding/removing songs from my 'Liked Songs'? I have never seen API able to modify/access my 'Liked Songs'... so weird
