Playback bar put device button back remove share button

Playback bar put device button back remove share button

When playing music and browsing for other ablums a "playback bar" is displayed at the bottom of the screen. It used to have a "device" button which allowed me to pick where playback occurs such as another Spotify Connect device or headphones. Now it has a share button.

Put the device button back, it's much more important to have quick access to that feature.

Hi @TheeJC,

Thanks for reaching out. We've moved your post here where it better fits.

So that we can be sure whether what you're seeing is expected or not, could you elaborate a bit more on this behaviour?

  • What device(s) is this on?
  • Is this on all devices or only on specific one(s)?
  • When did this start happening?
  • Screenshots or a video of the behaviour

With this information, we’d be happy to investigate.

Keep us posted.

The button circled in red is a "share" button.  It was a "select audio out device" previously.  Please revert the change, share is much less important while playback is occurring than selecting my headphones, or a Google Cast device, or other speaker where I want to hear music.  Screenshot is from Google Pixel 8.

Hey @TheeJC,

Thanks for getting back to us.

It sounds like you're seeing one of a few changes we've made recently. We always test improvements and new features, so you might see something others don't.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback with us and will make sure to pass it on to the relevant teams.

If anything else comes up, the Community will be here.

This change reached my device in the past few days. It is very frustrating, as I switch between audio devices multiple times per day. I do not often share tracks, but when I do, I have never struggled to find the share button. Please restore easy access to the device switcher or make it an option if you prefer to change the default.

My Question or Issue

There used to be a button on the bottom bar when you were playing a song that looked like a little green speaker. When you clicked it, a list of Sonos devices would come up, and you could play the current song on the Sonos device you selected.

About 2-3 weeks ago, that button disappeared , and now the "Share" button is in it's place. See screenshot.

I used that button several times every day, and I cant see if it was replaced on purpose, or if there's now a workaround, or what. How can I get it back?

* I've deleted in reinstalled both Sonos and Spotify apps

* I've restarted everything

* The Sonos app is connected to my Spotify account on and I can play songs through its janky interface, so I know my network and devices are fine

* All apps are up to date

My Question or Issue

An update occurred and this update removed the device icon and replaces it with the share icon and i never ever share songs but i switch between mutilpe devices per day...this change has made me hate your app, no longer enjoying my musical experiences with speed and efficiency, im going to no longer pay for this service and am very disappointed in these pointless irritating updates and changes

Great thanks for confirming that this was an on-purpose change, rather than a problem with my Sonos system.

Is this feature still there somewhere?

I found a workaround. It was confirmed above that this was an on-purpose change and not an issue with Sonos, so I started poking around to see if the feature was still there.

Its an extra click deeper, but I found the device selector button. See screenshot.

This was a pretty pointless and annoying change, not sure why it happened.
