Playlists filter missing in web player

Solved!

Playlists filter missing in web player

You guys must have implemented some major changes recently.

I just noticed that the web browser version of Spotify isn't quite right either.
There's no Playlists option under Your Library in the left panel anymore. Only Artists.
The Spotify app for Windows seems to be the only thing that's working correctly for me right now,

and even it has some minor changes I'm not very happy with.

Hey there @MSebring

Thanks for reaching out about this here in the Community. We moved your post to a different board since its topic is different from the OP's post.

That being said, you should still be able to see all filters in Your library in the web player. Could you send us a screenshot of what you're seeing there on your end? We'll take a closer look. You can attach it to your next response by using the Insert image option in the post editor. Make sure not to send any private info.

We'll be waiting for your reply.

Hi there @MSebring,

Thanks for the reply. So you see the filters correctly on the Desktop App, but not in the webplayer, is that correct? Is this the same on the webplayer across all devices? Consider also clearing all cache and cookies related to Spotify in your browser, logging back in and testing if the behaviour persists.

Let us know how it goes.

Yes, I see the filters correctly on the desktop app but not in the web player.
I only use the web player on a Windows 10 PC.
I cleared my cache and cookies and it had no effect.

I'd like to point out that this is a trivial issue as far as I'm concerned.
Because I have the desktop app, I almost never use the web player.
I originally posted this as a reply to another problem I reported:
https://community.spotify.com/t5/Your-Library/Playlists-not-in-custom-order-in-Sonos-app/m-p/5961936...
but it got moved to a separate thread.

The whole point of posting this reply was to show that the other problem I reported began (for multiple users)
immediately after Spotify had implemented software changes, to hopefully avoid the typical unhelpful responses:

"clear your cache", "reinstall your app".
I noticed two obvious software changes that occurred shortly before that other problem began:
1. On the desktop app: The queue was moved to the right hand panel instead of being a full screen display.
2. On  the web player: The playlists filter under Your Library disappeared.

When new software changes are implemented, and multiple users are reporting the same problem,

you shouldn't assume it is a coincidence and each user is just having a problem with their own PC.
It's more likely to be a problem that was introduced by the software changes.

Thanks for the info, @MSebring!

As the issues you're describing are different, it's best to keep them in separate threads and investigate them individually. They may or may not be related, but let's keep the discussion on the Web Player here.

It's also worth mentioning that sometimes there's issues that are happening for multiple users which need reporting to the tech team, but in order for us to be able to determine if that's the case, we have to test with some troubleshooting steps beforehand. It really helps us and the tech team get to the bottom of the issues and it provides us with more details.

When it comes to the Web Player and Your Library, we did some testing from our end. If you have all of your playlists into folders and you're following some artists (like it's visible on the provided screenshot), it's expected to only see the Artists option in Your Library and the option for Playlists will be missing. The same thing would be when it comes to Podcasts & Shows for example or if you're not following any artists for instance, the Artists option will be missing too.

We always strive to improve and offer better functions for our users, so we'll make sure to pass this info on to the relevant team.

Hope this helps clear things up and let us know if anything else comes up that we can assist you with 🙂

I do have all of my playlists in folders and I am following many artists, but

on the Desktop App both filters are present and I have the Playlists filter

selected so I see only my Playlist folders,

while in the Web Player the Playlist filter is not present so I see all of the

artists I am following after my Playlists folders.
Why do the Desktop App and the Web Player work differently regarding

these filters?

As I mentioned before, I consider this to be a trivial issue and I only brought

it up because it seemed to me to be the result of a recent change.
It still seems to me, though I might be mistaken, that I used to only see my

Playlist folders in the Web Player, just like in the Desktop App.

Hey @MSebring,

Thank you once again for sharing those details with us.

Could you let us know if the issue persists for you in the Web Player?

We'll be on the lookout.
