Queue songs only get counted when listening to 100% of the song

Queue songs only get counted when listening to 100% of the song

A song that I played mostly when using the queue option did not show up at all in the top tracks of last 4 weeks. In reality it had to be either 1 or 2, but it didnt even make top 50.

I tested some stuff and it seems like a song that gets put into my queue only gets counted if I don't skip any bit of the song at all. Even listening to 99% is not enough.

I doubt that is intended. So if I listen to my favorite song 300 times a year using the queue option, but always skip the boring and way too long outro, the song wouldn't even appear in my Top 100 year end playlist. Please fix this.

Hello @Wurmmann and thanks for reaching out .

I apologise to hear you're having issues with your streaming stats.

I once had the same issue with a particular song I played almost everyday and songs I played only once or twice that month were above it.

I do not think it affects your upcoming Wrapped for this year though.

As stated in this FAQ , the 2021 Wrapped was using playcounts instead of just minutes streamed.

I will stay alert for any new info regarding this. What you can do is to subscribe to this thread so that you are alerted at the earliest of any updates.

Thank you 🎧🖤

Why do you think your song wasn't counted properly? Was it saved in a queue or a different playlist than the less played songs that were above it?

And why will this not affect Wrapped? If the song just does not get counted at all, it doesn't matter if Wrapped counts plays or minutes played. I played 98% of the song so it should have definitely been high up on top songs last month considering how often I listened to it.

Hello once again @Wurmmann

Forgive me for the thing about me having the same issue, causes unnecessary confusion.

I've found out that I was listening  to  two different remixes of the same song and I did not realize they were different.

This means it's possible I played each of them for half the number of times I actually thought I did.

I'll ask around if there's a way of dealing with the ranking at the moment.

For now, you could confirm that it's not the same issue of remixes.

In any case I apologize for the inconvenience.

Do you have an update?

At the moment I'm afraid not.

The way you see it, is the issue still going on.

This post is the only one of it's kind I've seen so I'll need as much info as possible even to research

Thanks, take care.

Hello @Wurmmann

I did some digging around and  what I can say at the moment is Spotify's personalization algorithms don't only take into account how often a track was played, but if it also matches the regular and natural listening habits, how well it fits in a certain playlist and a lot more nuances. I am unable to go further into detail, but repeating a track will not guarantee that it always appears in a personalized playlist if it diverges too much from your usual listening activity.

As I had said before, I'll  let you know if I find anything worth sharing but at the moment I do not think your Wrapped will be disrupted.

Take care

But a 'top songs last 4 weeks' thing is not personalized, or am I wrong? Because it isn't even a playlist.

Hey there @Wurmmann , I apologize for the really late reply.

Even though the top songs aren't a playlist, they're generated based on the same algorithms as your personalized playlists.

So I'm sorry if I can't provide any actionable info but as you already know, these algorithms depend heavily on your listening activity.

The more you keep on streaming what you love, the more accurate they'll be.

Take care

Thank you. We kinda got off topic though so let's get back to my original question: Any idea why queued songs don't get counted at all if I play them for 99% or less? They only count as a play if I play them for 100%. Usually 30 seconds are enough, queued songs however need 100%. Why?
