Songs added to playlist years ago now listed as 'recently added'

My Question or Issue

Hi all, I just noticed something unusual on my Spotify playlist and was hoping for some advice.

I often sort my playlist based on when I added a song to it - so, for example, I can see the songs I added in recent weeks, all the way back to songs added literally years ago (some as far back as 2010!).

I haven't used Spotify in the past 48 hours, but today I noticed that some songs on my playlist are now listed as having been added to the playlist in the last two days. Just as an example, 'Bones' by The Killers has been on my playlist for years, but it says it was added "3 hours ago". Another example, 'Leaving New York' by R.E.M. has been on my list for years, but it says it was added "19 hours ago".

Nobody else has access to my account, and I can't imagine anyone would hack in just to re-add the same music that's already there, so I was wondering if anyone else can think of a cause?

I mainly ask because I like to see when I've added songs, so this unusual "recently added" stuff rather confuses my list!

• I have the same problem. My playlist since 2009 is re adding 10 year old songs putting them on top of my playlist (sorting latest added at top)

This is driving me insane, some sort of bug I suppose.

I also have the same problem. I have a couple of playlists that I've had since Spotify was an invite only service and recently songs that were on my playlist are re-added even if I wasn't using the app at the time they were added.

I've also added all the songs in these playlists to my library (checked the heart icon) so I know that the old entry of the song is gone from the list and a new instance is added because the heart is no longer checked. But if I go into my library the same song is still available with the heart checked so the old "version" is still available but not in my playlist.

Yesterday I changed my password, went into my account settings and forced a logout of all active sessions. I also removed all approved apps and services to rule out that anyone or thing had access to my account but today i still found old songs re-added.

I also like to sort my playlists by date added because it gives me a nice timeline of my musical taste. This bug, or whatever it is, is ruining my playlists. 😞

I'm using Spotify on Linux and Android.
