Spotify Daily Mix changes multiple times a day

Spotify Daily Mix changes multiple times a day

If I exit out of the playlist and reenter, the daily mix will change. If i exit out and reenter multiple times a day, it changes multiple times a day. This is only happening on a new laptop I got, this did not happen on my old laptop or my phone.

The same has been happening to me. Daily mixes will rearrange themselves over and over again as I'm listening to them, sometimes causing songs I've already heard to repeat by being moved down the playlist.

Hey folks,

Thanks you for posting in the Community!

This is an expected behavior for the Daily Mix as it aims to reflect your recent listening activities and therefore it dynamically updates during different times of the day. Please keep in mind that if you constantly listen to your Daily Mixes (meaning you don't switch to other playable content for at least 8 hours) they will not refresh with new songs altogether but will just shuffle around.

Also note that the songs used for curation of those playlists are coming form a larger pool of songs that reflect your overall listening preferences and those get updated weekly. It's expected that 75% of the content songs in the Daily Mix should be familiar to you.

When you actively explore, listen and like(dislike) new music, you can expect to see the results in your suggestions in one to three weeks time. Finally, here are some tips how to improve and make your personalized mixes better 🙂

Hope this helps clarify things. Don't hesitate to give us a shout if there's anything else we can help with.

Can I turn this setting off

It would be lovely if there were a set time for this update to happen, across all devices.

It even gets frustrating on one device while listening to music because it separates the queue from what I was looking at, all because I decided to go look at something else in the application. I want to trust the "Daily" part of it, and I cannot.

As far as multiple devices go, I'd love to be able to pick up from where I left off when I move from my computer to my car. That is also verboten because of this.

Anyway, please either rename the playlists to be something that suggests an inconsistent update schedule, or actually make it so it only updates at a set time, or after being unused for X hours, or when the mix has been exhausted.

There are options here. Please. Please. Please.

“they will not refresh with new songs altogether but will just shuffle around. “
This is false. My Daily Mixes have been changing with new musics every day during the day. I can give you my username so you can investigate further.

I've experienced the same issue with my daily mixes across all my devices while listening to the same mix. As alb_tross mentioned, it appears to re-shuffle while I'm listening to it and have navigated to a different screen within Spotify. I would love a feature that would allow me re-mix it on my own or to at least restrict it from changing during the day.

I've noticed that in the past month or so my daily mixes will refresh while I'm listening to them, queuing up songs that I wasn't expecting. The songs are still by the same artists chosen for that daily mix and tend to be in a similar order but it's extremely frustrating when I expect one song to play next and a completely different one comes on.

I also notice the problem is more extreme when I'm playing through Sonos devices. It seems like the spotify instance running on Sonos has a different version of the daily mix making it appear like I'm playing from one version of a daily mix but it's playing a completely different version of the same mix.

Shuffling around as it is being listened to is annoying and purpose defeating.  I'm trying to figure out AS I GO THROUGH IT what songs I like and dislike in the mix.  Shuffling it as it's being listened to completely ruins the ability to do that.  IF I WANTED it to shuffle, I would choose the shuffle option in the player.  This is just an awful default behavior.

Link broken for tips

I have the same thing happening, when I'm listening to a daily mix on my phone and then press the name of the daily mix to see the playlist, the mix changes. At first I thought it was kinda fun, but it's getting kinda annoying now lol

Yeah this is incredibly annoying. I heard a new song in a mix but forgot to favorite it, and then the mix changed and I wasn’t able to find the song bc it was removed from the mix. Who thought this was a good idea?

I also find this behavior extremely annoying.  I'm listening to a mix, pause and unpause or just skip and it's shuffled itself so that it doesn't match what's on the screen and then the same songs usually end up playing instead of new ones.  It's very frustrating.  If you've started it, it shouldn't change while actively listening.  It should either be once a day, twice a day, or after a set amount of time (hours, not moments) since the last time you interacted with that mix, and each interaction should reset the clock.  Radio stations do the same thing and are also annoying.  I can't believe that the devs actually think this is acceptable.

Hi @Kiril, is there any chance you can investigate this further? It seems like I and many others in this thread have noticed this behavior increasing drastically in recent months. I would love to see a solution here, because at this point it makes my daily mixes, genre mixes, and other mixes extremely difficult to listen to. It almost makes me want to cancel my subscription that's how bad it is.

I'm sorry, but I just had to post again.  I am listening to a daily mix and had gotten through about 5 songs, went to adjust the volume and it changed on me. I had the queue open instead of the daily mix page (since I knew that wasn't going to match!) and was excited for the next song, and it changed as I was looking at it.  That was probably 20 minutes before it changed.  That's unacceptable.  I love the concept of the daily mix feature, but the way it's implemented is not user friendly at all.

I concur with the frustration of other users. While listening to a daily mix at 8am and looking at the playlist the whole list just switched up, putting many songs that I had just heard in my future line up. I have 6 daily mixes to choose from. I don't need or want them to be rearranged until the next day. Please fix this annoyance. This kind of problem makes me consider going back to Pandora.

This is going to sound crazy, but autogenerated playlists (Daily Mix 1 for example) seem to be constantly changing. For example - I play a song on Daily Mix 1 and by the time the song is completed, the tracks associated with Daily Mix 1 have changed. This happens - every - single - time I play a song on the playlist. This obviously makes the playlists generally unusable. I feel like I was losing my mind but that is what is happening. Any thoughts?

I am using the iOS app on my iPhone 13 Pro Max.

thanks!

My Question or Issue

Have to agree with other posters here. I’ll be listening to a daily mix and then for whatever reason, the order of the songs just rotates and for example purposes I’ll be listening to the same song again. Most frustrating and has made me consider ending my subscription because i don’t want to keep hearing the same tunes. Daily mixes are my bread and butter on Spotify as it gives me a varied batch of songs and every now and then even introduces a new artist who I may not have heard of.

Has there been an update on this? Daily Mixes are changing - including new songs - in the middle of listening to them. Other people seem to have similar experiences. Is this a glitch or is this deliberate? If a glitch, can we fix it? If deliberate, what's the thinking behind it?

Any update on this? Did they acknowledge this problem yet, or are they still saying the daily playlists don't update while you are listening?
