Hey there folks,
We're getting multiple reports from users stating that album/tracks artwork is being replaced with playlist/compilation track artwork. This is being investigated.
Solved! Go to Solution.
Hey there,
Thanks for the patience while we've investigated the reasons for this experience.
We've checked back with the correct teams and based on your reports it seems that the behavior of album/tracks artwork being replaced with playlist/compilation covers can happen when the album art is from the track's original album or release. In cases where the album art is from a "Greatest hits" or other compilation rather than the original release's art, it usually means that the original release is no longer available on Spotify.
Hope this clears things a bit,
Cheers!
Songs that have been added to a compilation by spotify show the compilation art instead of the correct album art, even when streaming the song directly from the album or a playlist not part of the compilation.

My Question or Issue
Some of my songs liked or saved to my playlists are displaying random compilation artwork. They worked fine before now. I’ve seen others post about this on Reddit. Example attached, thanks!
Another example.
Same problem. Needs to be fixed ASAP
I'm having the same problem @ spotify help 🙂
Same Issue, Worst of all some of these fake covers are worse quality or not even the same as the original, really got on my nerves going through my playlist and seeing tons of songs replaced with these generic cover arts
please fix this ASAP @Spotify
Yup, MISMO aqui.
But in the playlists thumbnails.
Is it some sort of crazy experiment gone wrong? SpotiGuys please, mend your brains back together thanks.
Hi ! Yesterday a bunch of my songs' cover got randomly changed on both PC and iPhone. And I can't revert it back. Anyone having this issue ?
Facing the same problem here, only appeared in the last few days - both playlists album art, as well as currently playing album art is appearing funny.
having the same issues, this is most recent, but i have at least 5 other songs like this. the original album artwork song has been removed from my library and replaced with this BS, PLEASE FIX
Same problem here, 100s of songs showing random compilation covers
I count 47 songs so far, the most recent find:
It’s also changed the playlist covers to use the compilation cover. Really annoying!

My Question or Issue
As of yesterday (November 10th, 2022), a bunch of album artwork on my Spotify desktop app (from MS Store) has been wrong, but only in auto-generated playlist photos and the artwork in the playback bar at the bottom of the app. Everywhere else, the album artwork is correct.
This problem is annoying because I use album artwork to determine what song I'm listening to. Looking at an image is easier to process very quickly when skipping through songs, rather than reading the title.
I've already cleared all cache and reinstalled the Spotify app.
I'm having this issue as well in my playlists, happens on any platform I try (Windows 10, iPhone 13 Pro - IOS 16, Web).
I am having the same issue, most notably with '99 Luftballons' by Nena. I only have the German version in both my liked songs and playlists (of my own creation); however, when played it only plays the English version of the song.
The same thing is happening to me, Spotify has replaced the covers of the playlists, but it's even worse, they have replaced songs on the playlists with compilation versions. This is unacceptable.
While driving yesterday, I noticed nearly every song in an album (Lorde's Pure Heroine, the extended edition) has the incorrect album art. They're all generic playlist-style artwork with phrases on stock image backgrounds, such as (specifically for this album) "Lo-Fi Chill," "It's Coffee O'Clock," "Weekend At Home," etcetera.
I noticed today (on my desktop computer) that songs from several other albums (by other artists) have the same problem. It's as if someone making a bunch of vague playlist themes somehow modified Spotify's saved artwork for the song.
I've attached a screenshot from the desktop app showing this, which in this case isn't affecting the art in playlist views or on artist pages but shows up in the now playing screen's album art display. The same is true in my car, where the album looks fine on my phone and in CarPlay but this strange incorrect artwork displays on the now playing screens in CarPlay, on my Car Thing, and on the display behind my steering wheel. It doesn't appear to be an issue with a specific device (since it's happening on all of my devices) nor with a specific artist (because it's happening to several that I've found) so I'm stumped as to what's going on here.
Ultimately this doesn't hinder my ability to use Spotify, but it's certainly annoying and does subtract from the experience. I'm hoping a fix can be found and the correct album art can return across all areas of the Spotify service.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is there any indication as to why it's happening, or if it will be fixed?
