Why do songs sometimes change?

Why do songs sometimes change?

I've noticed a few times that you'll have a song on your playlist for potentially years and then to will play one day and there has been some bull **bleep** rap added to it ....

Today it's one of my favourite songs. 🙄 Ruined by some absolute **bleep** rap in the middle ....

Question is why does it happen and how can I find the original again?

Hey there @tomstrangwood,

Thanks for the post.

The content on Spotify is uploaded by the artists/ labels/ copyrights holders themselves. This content can differ in time and between countries.

If an artist uploads a new version of a song, sometimes the original gets removed from the platform (and any playlist it's added to), then a new version is uploaded with new metadata and that has to be manually added to your playlist. However, sometimes the song or album will get directly replaced by a new version.

The only way to find the original would be to go to the artist profile and look for the desired version of the song if available.

Hope this info helps. Don't hesitate to reach out again if you have questions.
