Just like the title says, I'm currently unable to remove songs from my release radar and discover weekly playlists. The small "-" button that I would normally use for this just doesn't exist anymore. This issue exists on my PC, phone and on the web application, so I'm starting to think that this is not only limited to my account, anybody else got the same issue?
(all apps are on the newest version)
How is it possible that I still cannot dislike a song or get it off a recommended playlist while using the web app? Hiding it on the mobile works, but since syncing across platforms still seems unavailable as an option (which blows my mind...) I am stuck having songs in recommended playlists that I don't want to hear again.
Can you imagine saving a bunch of items to your amazon cart and then logging in on your computer and the cart being empty because they didn't figure out how to sync your preferences across devices?
I have the same issue with my iMac since I keep getting Etta James songs that interrupt any other albums or lists I am used to playing. How can I remove a song/album/artist from my preferred music lists? Very frustrating. If I cannot find an answer I'm going to cancel my account.
a while ago, it was possible to select between hiding an artist and hiding a song in a generated playlist like release radar.
then, it was only possible to hide songs.
now, it is only possible to hide songs via an extra-click on the mobile app, and NOT AT ALL in the desktop app.
since the algorithm kinda sucks and regularly provides me music i would not listen to if someone paid me, a quick access to exclude those very poor suggestions is essential for me.
arbitrarily cutting this feature (and it must be arbitrary, i can't think of any technical reason) therefore significantly decreases my user experience.
my suggestions:
* bring back exclusion of songs on all platforms
* bring back excluding artists
* bonus points: provide an option to permanently hide certain artists, because no, for the fourty-second time, i do NOT want to listen to forking rammstein.
* introduce the feature to ALL generated playlists, not just release radar and weekly mix.
* stop cutting features for no reason, and if you have reasons, announce them.
got the same problem. they recently completely cut that feature from the desktop-client, and hid it in the android-app, inside the "..."-menu.
seems like the project owners just hate user experience.
I got the same issue on all of my applications. I really hope it's not a business decision from Spotify and that it's just a bug that they'll fix soon.
Same issue here. Can't dislike the Songs on any application.
Hi folks,
Thanks for reaching out about this in the Community!
Can you please let us know the following info:
We'll look into this further.
i actually contacted the support to ask exactly this and it seems like this was a deliberate decision
my phone is a HTC 12 Ulife with android 8.1.0
for my windows PC it's version is:
1.1.97.962.g24733a46
the version for my phone app is 8.7.82.94
as for the 'hide' button being gone from all of my playlists, I was only aware of it existing in those 2 I mentioned, I can remove songs on the normal way from my personal playlists
I attached a screenshot of what it looks like
I noticed that "issue" today on Discover Weekly too. Button to remove/hide unwanted songs disappeared. How can I improve my suggestions if I can't hide songs I don't like? Spotify, you're doing it really, really bad.
iOS:
My friend (premium user) has also lost this functionality, though thankfully I (also premium user) still have it on desktop AND mobile, however if I also lose this functionality then it will disgruntle me quite significantly and at the least have me exploring other options for my money. After using spotify for almost 10 years (still have a playlist from 2013), it is a shame to continually see the platform have core features that were added years ago be stripped and dumbed down over time. Eliminating the hide/dislike button spits in your most loyal, active, and engaged customer's faces.
Please Spotify bring this back. I don't want my precious 30 spots tainted by bands I've already expressed disinterest in. 😞
Please, provide the option to delete tracks from Daily Mixes, the same way as it can be done in 'Discover Weekly'. In the current Mixes I keep finding quite a lot of tracks I do not like at all!
Hey @fvu01,
Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.
Can you share with us the exact make/model and OS of the device in which you noticed this behavior, along with the Spotify version you have running?
On another note, can you see this button from another device, e. g. a mobile phone? If yes, please let us know.
This could be one of the changes we recently made. At Spotify, we're always testing new improvements and features to give our users a better experience. So you may see something your friend can't see, or you may have access to a completely new feature for a while.
Keep us in the loop!
Thank you for the response.
I first noticed the change on a Lenovo ThinkPad P52 Windows 11. I was using Spotify for Windows 1.1.98.691.gf759311c
No, I cannot see this button on another device. I checked the online web player on Google Chrome and Firefox and still do not see the button. I have also checked the Spotify Android app (version 8.7.82.94) on a Samsung Galaxy S20 Android version 12. On android there is an option to "Hide this song", but it is under the kebab (three dots) menu of the individual song. The actual button to block a track is no longer there.
