Artist Pick takes 70% of space and songtitles are not visible anymore they get cut on desktop while Your Library is expanded. Think this happened after last update.
How can I opt-out this annoying Artist Pick images blocking half of the songtitles on artists pages?
Solved! Go to Solution.
It took me three steps, but I would like to give.... AN AWESOME BIG 👍 TO SPOTIFY for pinning the Artist Pick and Liked Songs on Desktop players back there where they were ! Thank you so much. 🙏
Hi there @Lanciano007
Thanks for reaching out. We've moved your post here, where it better fits.
Where is this exactly and what do you see? We've been unable to reproduce this so far, so we want to make sure if what you have is an issue or the expected behaviour of the app. Please send us some screenshots so we can have a closer look.
Keep us posted.
Hey Joan,
Thanks for replying. To reproduce. Open and use spotify on desktop app or browser. Expand Your Library and do what you always do. Discover, listen songs and, create and organise your playlists... Even when Your Library is collapsed, Artist Pick image takes almost half of the screenview. But we need the Your Library expanded to add songs to our playlists in one simple and quick effective step. So we can Slide them, and don't use this green 'Spot' (copy of the 3 grey dots) to add songs in 3 steps to our playlists... I'm not against or unhappy about some parts of this 'green spot' but it substituted a very useful and crucial 'like indicator' and there are more effective ways to do the same thing more simple, quicker and better... Now I'm experiencing Spotify's desktop players are getting smaller and smaller.....we don't get any space. You'll experience that now on desktop devices many things taking 2,3 or more steps...that's not pleasant. (Imagining: in 2023 we could send a simple email, now we have to go to the postoffice again, buy a stamp first, post it, and hope it will be delivered. For me this is a downgrade..i'm sorry). Now even the songtitles got cut and are unreadable... Not to mention the back-arrows are above the 'wrong boxes/panels/windows' (before backarrow was just under the green smiley, in the brown part of the photo) and there's no visible 'Like Indicator' (heart/star or whatever...) that other music streaming platforms do offer...That alone already makes using Spotify less interresting. But The Green dots system is unreliable and doesn't work ...(many songs and artists don't get the green dots when they are added to playlists, and there are posts here on the community about songs that are not added to any playlist at all but get green dots behind them anyway...) i'm not enjoying listening to my music anymore. Every update in 2024 i end up here with more negative experiences....
That Liked Song image will be there forever annoying me, this is another reason for me not 'Liking' songs anymore...What is the value of showing me that I liked a song without telling me which song it is and blocking 10 other songtitles I don't know yet of the same artist, and maybe like?
PS. sorry for my incurred frustrations...
I already experienced (and reported) multiple bugs the last months...after years of perfect experiences. When does it stop?
Kind regards
Fiddlesticks! Because you opened your Now Playing View window/panel and let this window take your space. Don't compare two different things. Thanks for making this dumb comparison. If you want this Now Playing View window blocking your space and want to live controlled in a box, It's your choice, right? There's no option to open or close this Artist Pick Image.
Yes you can thank Spotify and i'm happy for you you don't notice the bugs....but it doesn't mean you don't have them.
It depends on how small you made your own box (or let others do it for you) to notice things like this and if you are able to make your own choices... Maybe some window/panel is blocking your...
Kind regards,
PS. I also want to thank Spotify, and I will if everything works again. I will be the first (or second, after you) to give my appreciation to Spotify. I still appreciate Spotify but I don't appreciate known bugs that are there for 5/6 months, and we get more changes without solving them first.
Oh no, I don't want to live in a controlled box! Heavens!
Okay, I closed it. Phew.
Oh look! It's nicely tucked into the "box." And the full album and song titles can be read!
Maybe your "box" is indeed too small. Might want to expand it. Maybe go outside or something.
Are you here to help or make discussions?
You have a strange kind of positivism. In fact, you use it for the opposite. Are you a narcist?
I did what you did. I made the panel of Playlist titles in Your Library smaller like you did.
Are you resizing the panels every time titles turn out to be longer?
Not all artists use one word titles. Some have content and some have an indication at the end of a different version such as acoustic or live.
What I was trying to point out is that Artist Picks is for the exclusive audience, just like a Now Playing View panel, not an essential part of listening to music. It takes up half the window, causing the essential part of an artist page to suffer. Their music. If you come for the Artist Picks, that is a choice. But it is obvious that most of us can and want to make our own choice first, right? That Artist Pick image was under the titles in a very normal place. Where it will end up again if you apparently need or want to use the Now Playing View panel. I don't know how you drive on the road, but do you prefer to drive straight ahead or do you prefer to always avoid obstacles? Apparently you are happy with choosing shorter playlist titles or shorter music titles. I would prefer to move the Artist Pick to the right If I could. I used to think it was neater and clearer when we were given a choice and could make our own decisions about whether we were interested in Artist Picks and their choices. On forehand I can not give my opinion if they made, the right choice for me. I'll figure it out myself. Besides, the screenshot of the Strokes Artist Pick you posted says "Don't Go There".... When was the last time they let you out?
I’m just having a laugh. You don’t control Spotify’s UX just like you don’t control all the other platform software you use. I like website design as well- I think there’s an art to it and I respect when it’s intuitive and helpful. But why waste energy and be unpleasant to moderators- all of your criticisms may hold validity but they’re all subjective opinions.
I apologize if I came off as rude- you have the right to say what you wish. The world would be a bit cheerier if customers chose not to be condescending and mean, but perhaps that wasn’t your intent.
I hope you have a lovely day. I get let out at noon sharp and my tail is already wagging.
Good, my intention was also to make people laugh a little. Fortunately, we managed to turn the situation around, and the issue got a bit clearer too. Joan is a hero...best moderator over here. You are right that I have become a bit frustrated (and chaotic). I thought I apologized for that too. It's an accumulation of bugs I'm dealing with and new design. If I hadn't had bugs I would never have ended up here. After the introduction of the green dot. I have now read hunfreds of messages here in recent months about many of the same issues that I have or had. Indeed, I don't mean to be mean, rude, unpleasant or whatever. My apologies if this did happen. I just want to listen to music and make playlists...
Enjoy today!
