I have not reinstalled because I did not want to lose all of my off line data. I think the issue is a server one linked to our accounts and devices. Not the App install. A bug fix version might fix the issue mind you.
Spotify - please respond, this must be a know issue with server offline data checking at start up? or?
I have updated and all is well so far 🙂
This started happening today to me. Tried all the tricks here mentioned here in the thread and more. The offline mode first and then putting connection back on seemed to work, but after a minute or two it goes back to crashing. Also, listening on computer looked like it fixed the issue, but shortly after the Android app went back crashing again.
This seems like a killer issue, can you please fix this, Spotify? For the Android app to work is fundamental for my use of your otherwise great software. My phone is OnePlus 3T running 8.0.
Same problem and phone. I can't use the workarounds presented earlier in the thread because the app crashes after one second. Spotify please fix this problem!
I get The same crashes on Huawei mate 10 PRO. With Android 8
Tried everything
I have the same problem with Huawei Mate 10 PRO...
Same problem here, Xperia XZ1 Compact, Android 8.0.
Spotify support released my account email and let me create a new account. This worked for a week and then the same problem returned with the new account aswell.
Time to start fixing Spotify...
I have this problem since two weeks back or so (Wileyfox Swift; Android 7.1.2), and have emailed with support in order to try to find a solution, but no permanent solution yet.
Temporary solution for me:
For me, the bug seemed to be linked to playing a specific song/playlist, so if I login to my desktop computer, play a bunch of random songs from different playlists, the app starts like normal on the phone again. However, if I try to play the specific song again, the app goes back to crashing. I guess I have to avoid this song.
