App crashing

App crashing

I have a premium plan, USA, iPhone 7 updated to 15.7.3 and I have the latest update for Spotify. When I open the app, it crashes immediately. I’ve tried restarting the phone, uninstalling the app and reinstalling it, logging in and logging out of Spotify (on another device since it doesn’t stay open long enough on my phone) and cleared cache on the phone. But the app still won’t load. I have plenty of space on my phone, and the app loads just fine on my other devices, namely a kindle fire that I used to log in and out of Spotify on. I’m out of ideas to try and get the app to load, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there @Mritha,

Thanks for the post.

We'd recommend the following:

  • Go into your phone's app settings and make sure that the Spotify app is granted all permissions.
  • Check if the Spotify app loads if your internet connections (WiFi and mobile data) are turned off. Then turn them back on. Sometimes there might be network related issues causing this behavior.
  • Check if there are any pending iOS updates and let those install. You should be able to update to iOS 15.7.5 on you iPhone 7, and you said you're on 15.7.3.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for responding!

The app is still crashing. I tried to load it after each of the following things I did.

Updated the phone to the latest update per Settings

Uninstalled Spotify, turned off my phone, waited about 30 seconds, turned the phone on, and reinstalled Spotify.

Turned off Wifi and Bluetooth (phone is set to automatically run on data when wifi is off)

Turned wifi and Bluetooth back on

I thought it was working after I deleted Spotify and reinstalled it, I was able to play about the first 10 seconds of a song before the app crashed again, which is much farther than I’ve gotten before. So I thought maybe it was fixed but the update took all my storage space but I still have a little less than 3GB of storage free.

I checked permissions through Settings - Privacy and I don’t see where Spotify is asking for any permissions, none are granted but I don’t see the app listed to give any. When I go to Settings then Spotify directly everything is enabled from notifications on up, everything I see as an option is enabled.

Is there anything else that can be tried?

Hey @Mritha,

Thanks for your reply and for the info shared.

In this case, we'd like to gather some additional info. Would you mind sending us the exact Spotify version you're running on your iPhone?

On another note, did you notice if this started to happen after a specific event, e.g., an OS update? If yes, please send us the details.

Lastly, we'd recommend, if possible, trying to free up some more storage space on your mobile device to see if you notice any difference in the described behavior.

Keep us in the loop!
