App lagging when skipping to the next song or tapping to play a song

App lagging when skipping to the next song or tapping to play a song

My Question or Issue

I've noticed over the past week or so that the app has been lagging when I try to move to the next song (the cover art glitches/jumps or is delayed in switching smoothly) or tap to play a new song (the bar on the bottom takes a few seconds to pop up). The latter especially has caused me to tap another song on a playlist/album/etc. when I really just wanted to open up the current song I was listening to. I've tried restarting my phone and un/re-installing the app. The best I've gotten is by clearing all my open apps, so it might just be a memory issue? Just don't remember having this type of lag in the years I've used the app on this phone or others.

Thanks for reaching out about this.

 

You mentioned that you've already reinstalled the app, but would you mind going through the steps of a clean reinstall, as it's more thorough than a normal one.

 

Can you clarify whether you're only having trouble with larger playlists or do you experience the same issue with small playlists as well? We're currently looking into an issue involving playlists containing lots of tracks, just like you mentioned. It'd be great if you would head over to this thread and provide the details we asked for in the Status Update, so this can be investigated.

 

If this isn't your case, could you let us know how much storage space does your device have available? Also - let us know if the issue persists using another internet connection.

Hi there— Seems like the playlist/album/queue size doesn’t matter, but I’ve noticed it when the app has been open for a while. At that point, the only fix is restarting the app and closing my other apps until the next time I’m on the app for a while. I’ll try a clean reinstall and see if I see any changes down the road. Thanks!

If after reinstalling the app the issue persists, would you mind checking the info we asked for in our previous message?

 

Also - could you confirm that your phone's battery saving options are disabled?

Their app simply sucks.

 

It doesn't matter.

 

It's always gonna be laggy.

 

Especially their desktop app.

 

It's always delayed and when I close the app it still plays the song even though I closed the app.

 

I just wished Spotify would put**bleep** together and make an app that actually functions for once without all the lag and stuttering when skipping songs.

Their craaaaaappp together

This problem was not an issue before, it accured with the new app
