So I have a 2014 BMW X5.
A iPhone 6 Plus.
A month ago I plugged in my iPhone via the USB cable in my dock and I was happy to see full Spotify intergraton on my iDrive.
Then a few weeks ago after maybe the last update on 12.12.14 or a Carrier Update on my iPhone or some other reason I lost the album art. Everything else works perfictly but it does not display the art.
I've tried Pandora and Amazon Music, both display the Art.
Anyone having this issue??
My app version is 2.2.0.2464
Thanks

I have the same setup. BMW X5 2014 and Iphone 6 plus.
I have tried with my friends Iphone 6 with almost same car set up, and it works with his phone.
The only defference i can see is that i have update my iphone to the latest software...
Hello @bothfly and @bj_66. Welcome to the community!
This may be a bug. What version of Spotify and iOS are you using?
You can find the version of the app on Spotify > Settings > About. (it's a number like 2.2.0.2464)
You can find the system (iOS) version on Settings > General > About. (It's a number like 8.1.2 (12B440))
Also, did the problem start when Spotify was updated or when the iPhone was updated?
Meanwhile, please try:
- To restart your phone by holding Home + Power until the screen goes dark and the Apple logo appears and then check if Spotify works as intended with BMW Connected again
- If that fails, you can try reinstalling Spotify with the steps below (Keep in mind that a reinstall will delete all data stored by Spotify, so you'll need to sync your offline music again.)
My Spotify software is: 2.2.0.2464
My IOS version is: 8.1.2(12B440)
I have reinstall everything and its still same problem.
As i said before we tryied with my friends Iphone and its works perfect. He have the same Spotify version (2.2.0.2464) BUT not the same IOS version. He have not uppdate til the new version yet.
I dont remember if the problem starts when i updated Spotify or IOS. But if my friends iphone works in my car with same Spotify version as mine, but an older version of IOS, it maybe is a IOS problem...
same here with a bmw x3 2015 (facelift) and bug since a week. Hard to say if it's ios 8.1.3 or spotify updates as I don't recall who has been updated first.
Another issue i reported in another spot is the integration of Spotify + bmw Connected Drive (through the app BMW Connected) doesn't work any longer meaning there's no longer integration of functionalities (ArtWork, Search, Playlist...)
Hey everyone!
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We're currently investigating this as we speak, and working towards a resolution.
We'll be sure to keep you up to date as we progress.
I emailed Spotify Support on 12/22/14 and my case number for this issue is 02185646.
They wanted before and after pictures like I posted on this thread and never heard back.
After the last Spotify update a week or so ago, there is still no change and no Album Art.
Again, everything was working 100% normal before the Spotify update of 12/12/14.
Hope you get it fixed soon, Pandora works but the Spotify is a better app.
Thanks
Same issue here. 2013 BMW i328 and Spotify artwork was working fine and then all of a sudden it stopped showing up. I've tried everything and nothing seems to work. Hopefully they get this fixed in either the next Spotify update or next BMW update.
Same here. 2015 BMW M4 Artwork was working untill it stopped showing up. Latest firmware on the bimmer with iPhone 6 plus 8.1.3 and Spotify 2.4.0.1822. Really annoying because this was one of the features I swapped from pandora to Spotify.
If you want your Album Art back, there is a new BMW update that fixes the Album Art issue.
Go to the BMW website and download the latest file to a USB drive then upload that file to your cars iDrive.
Then you can use Bluetooth Streaming, not the USB connected app to launch Spotify and the Album Art will work.
This feature over BT was not working until this BMW update and the Spotify App with a USB connection to the BMW still does not give Album Art, but over BT it now does....
Before the BMW update if you use Bluetooth Streaming the Album Art and Song info was not working. After the update the Album Art and Song Info does work on my iPhone 6 Plus running IOS 8.1.3
Ok, do you have any problem to update?
I get a message that the file is defekt on the USB...
Funny - according to my car I have the latest BMW update and mine is not working. It will show artwork and song title, but if you change the song or the album, the art and song title stay the same. I was hoping they were going to fix that at some point.
There is a new March BMW update out.

You are right bluetooth works with the album artwork, but thats NOT what we are talking about. There is an app for that. 😉
With BT-ONLY you can't browse to your playlists, use the cool spotify features etc. and without those functions this is not a useful integration. So back on track - how to use the connected drive with the spotify app and even WITH displaying the album artwork?!
Burnout,
I'm the one that started this thread so I'm aware what we are talking about.
I agree the connected drive gives you more options than the BT streaming, I was just letting people know that this feature is now working.
I also perfer BT streaming somewhat more then the connected drive, why, because with Connected Drive your phone is unusuable, if you press the Home Button or mess with your phone connected drive stops, with BT streaming this is not the case.
Depends on what you like, but Spotify needs to fix this either way
