BMW Connected Drive - Starred Playlist in Reverse (Oldest First) - But fine on iPhone

BMW Connected Drive - Starred Playlist in Reverse (Oldest First) - But fine on iPhone

Okay, so I've seen the other posts and threads about the sorting issue and my Starred playlist looks fine on my phone and mac etc, but when I connect to my BMW via USB and open the Spotify app in iDrive, my Starred playlist is showing all my songs by oldest first which IS VERY annoying.

Anyone got a solution?

As mentioned it is showing in then correct order on my iPhone so fine if I play via Bluetooth, but not exactly the solution I want when I need it integrated.

Anyone experienced the same problem since the last app update?

I have a similar problem, my Starred playlist is in random order after the latest update. But its random on my iPad too, not just idrive.

On my Android devices its in correct  order.

Hey @andymoffat @poisike

This is because the starred playlist used to show the newly added songs at the top.

Spotify has converted all starred playlists into regular playlists to give users more control over it, so the most recently added songs will now be at the bottom like regular playlists.

This might not work with BMW, but it does work for the iOS app:

To show the newly added tracks at the top,

When you are in a playlist scroll up the the top and tap on this and then select "Recently Added"

Thanks Matt.

Yes I can change on my iphone to recently added, but that makes no difference to the Spotify app / integration with BMW iDrive.

There is no means to change or edit the on the BMW Spotify iDrive app which is frustrating.

No doubt this will fall between the BMW iDrive and Spotify responsibility cracks 😞

Thanks for this information

Yeah, it's reverse for me too on ipad. But on Android it's still the way i like it. Is it going to be reversed on Android too?

It's really inconvinient to use in BMW idrive as there is no way to reverse it there.

Hey guys,

This is unlikely to be changed unfortunately. It's unlikely that the ability to sort via Connected Drive will be implemented.

It's been passed on to the relevant team though, so there's a possibility this will change in the future.

With latest app v4.3.0 setting "recently added" actually reverses the order for Idrive too. I selected it before connecting my iPad to car.

Hi, are you saying that v4.3.0 actually fixes the problem?

In my car later today so will take a look as I've just updated ot v4.3.0

I know it was a Spotify issue that caused this problem in the first instance since I hadn't updated my iDrive, so I hope they've corrected it.

Thanks

Yes, the issue seems fixed. I selected sorting by "Recently added" on iPad and then connected to car. Idrive displayed my Starred playlist starting from newest songs. Before this update my Starred playlist was in reverse order, oldest on top.

Glad to hear this is fixed in 4.3
