Can no longer use Spotify in the car due to skipping issue

Until a week ago I regularly used Spotify in my car connected via USB cable but this is no longer possible because after playing just one song the app skips to the next and the next and the next and the next and the next and can't be stopped. The only way to stop this is by pulling out the plug.

I have tried various settings in the app and I have even deleted the app and reinstalled it. Nothing seems to help and now this app is useless and not worth keeping if I can't use it in my car.

I know many people have this issue but I haven't seen a single working solution. Any ideas?

And still nothing. Can you believe that I am back to using my old iPhone 5 instead of my new XR and well, it seems to be working.

I think Spotify knows the solution but they're just not saying ...

BUY A NEW CAR!!

PS.
I've been having a closer look at Apple's streaming solution and I like what I see. Firstly it's cheaper than Spotify AND it's a whole lot cheaper than buying a new car!
