CarPlay causes music to change

My Question or Issue

When connecting via bluetooth to my car, it transitions to Carplay. After the app transitions from the normal mode to CarPlay mode, more often than not, my music changes to my Liked Songs. I don't know why this is. I get about a second of the playlist or song I was listening to before a random song from my Liked Songs begins to play. Sometimes, I'm already in my Liked Songs, but it will still restart my session and play a random Liked Song.

So we can investigate further, can you let us know when this started happening? Have you by any chance tried connecting another device to your car and does the issue persist there as well? It'd be great if you could also let us know if you've tried some troubleshooting steps without them making a difference.

I am also having this issue, I would say it has started within the last week. I’m currently on app version 8.8.92 and can see I’ve updated to 8.8.90 within the last week. 8.8.88 was within 2 weeks ago and I do not remember having this issue. I am also on an iPhone with iOS 17.1.1.

Hello, 

I started to have problem with playing in car. 
Normaly in the past (like a week ago) when I connected phone with a car, Spotify started playing songs from my playlist where it stops previous day, it is what I want.

But now, when it connect, Spotify start to play my favorite songs (I dont even know that i liked them before) and I dont want that. When I say siri to play my playlist, it does but in order but i normally listem it randomly. 
Does someone know what happend and how can i fix it?

Also, it would be great if any of you could check if the issue persists using a device with a different OS. This could be really helpful to identify the behavior.

Also, to confirm, did you have the chance to try if the same thing happens using another device?

Have not tried any troubleshooting. Don't really remember, but I don't think it happened anytime before February 2023. That is when I moved to Japan. I also bought my car in May I believe.

Thanks for providing us with some more details!

@Lucie05, I had a look at the photo you sent over and it seems like there might be a new app update available. Could you give the steps on this page a shot? If no updates appear, you can also try a clean reinstall, which ensures that you're running the latest app version. A reinstall will clear saved cache from the app as well, which can sometimes cause tech issues.

@w_-xb0mgkcpxr, would you mind giving a clean reinstall a try as well?

Shouldn't that do the trick, it would be helpful if you could send us a video showing how things look from your end. If the files are too large to attach here in the Community, you can send them to us via Google Drive or as unlisted YouTube videos.

Sorry for the delay. Wanted to give adequate time after reinstalling to make sure. It is still performing the bug but it has slightly changed. Sometimes it will restart the album I was on, sometimes it will restart the song I was on, and sometimes it still does the bug mentioned originally, where it swaps to Liked Songs and plays a random song there.
