Carplay on 2017MY A3 Audi

Apple carplay is working fine on my Audi apart from the annoying fact the MMI system seems to only read the first couple of hundred or so tracks in a playlist, even though they are all valid songs and play fine if they are manulaly slected using the iPhone itself.  Some of my playlists have 300+ songs in but they simply dont appear on the car's display.  Is this an Audi or a spotify issue ? Thanks for the help.
