My Question or Issue
Have looked (endlessly, lol) but haven't found this exact problem: the customized order of my playlists USED to appear in Carplay as it does on the Desk app but stopped doing so 1-2 months ago. I've re-downloaded the phone app and re-re-set the Desktop preferences to "Custom List" for the playlist order, but they will ONLY sort/present in Carplay in a "most recently played" order. Not the end of the world but SUPER annoying as I like to put "next to play" lists/albums at the top followed by my daily Spotify-generated lists in numerical order. Any ideas appreciated!
I have this exact same issue and It’s very frustrating. I’m pretty sure it happened when I updated my iPhone to iOS 15. With that update I believe CarPlay changed to “un-tether” the CarPlay display with the iPhone display. Now while driving you can make changes to the iPhone while driving (or a passenger can) and it won’t affect what is going on in CarPlay. Unfortunately it seems that with this change Spotify has set their playlist sort order for CarPlay to be “most recent played” and that can’t be controlled.
Can an expert from Spotify please comment on this?
CarPlay apps can now be rearranged or hidden on iOS 10 by tapping on Settings > General > CarPlay > Your Vehicle. Simply tap the add or subtract button on the stock or third-party apps that you want to add or remove. Phone, Music, Maps, Messages, Car, and Now Playing cannot be removed..
Thank you, but this is not the issue I was describing. My issue has to do with the ordering of playlists within the Spotify app when running through CarPlay, not the arrangement of apps in the CarPlay display.
I have this problem too. For the life of me, I can’t find a way to reorder them.
Seeing the same issue and it's so frustrating. I don't want my playlists in order of "most recently played". I want them in the order I have them on my desktop.
Same problem here. Any solutions yet?
any solutions yet ? it is killing me
I resolved issue today by removing Spotify from Carplay on my iPhone and adding it back after I reset the system in my car (very easy to do). Songs now appear in playlists in the same order that I have chosen to set them on my computer which my phone also matches. Hope it lasts and hope I don’t have to keep going to repeat the process.
To remove Spotify from Carplay: go to Settings, General, Carplay, Customize then hit the minus button in front of Spotify (that does not delete Spotify but only moves down towards the bottom with a plus sign in front of it so you can add it back later.
To reset system in my car (22 VW Tiguan), all you have to do is hold down the Volume button (the one on the left) for about 10 seconds and system resets. At this point you can go back to Settings, General, Carplay, Customise and hit the plus sign in front of Spotify. Spotify is back in Carplay and Playlists will show songs in the order that you’ve chosen on Computer or iPhone.
