Download to iOS app stopped working?

Download to iOS app stopped working?

iPhone X (pro) & MacOS Big Sur

A local file added to Spotify on iMac doesn't appear on my iOS device. Well, it appears there, but, greyed out and unplayable.

I've been using the same method over a year (it worked pretty good), and the newly added song shows up every time. Since the last UI "improvements", this stopped. Not sure this is related?

Any ongoing issues with downloading local files to iOS devices?

Hey @nickvandyck,

Thanks for posting in the Community.

There was a change in how the Local Files function works. Syncing between devices is not possible anymore, you'll have to have the file physically present on the device you want to play it on. Here is more info on how to set that up.

Hope this clears things a bit,

Cheers!

Hello. Thank you for your reply.

I'm sorry to see this changed. Feels like a little step back to me.

I've downloaded the file to my "Files" on iPhone. However. This does not make the file playable in Spotify. Is there a step by step tutorial to follow after these changes were made? I'm guessing the file shouldn't be in the "Files" app on iPhone, but somewhere else, but were ...

The "old" offline files are still visible and playable in my iPhone Spotify app. So they still work (which is good, but also confusing).

Any help or tips are more than welcome.

Best regards,

I'm terrible sorry, but this is just a complete mess. There is no way to make this work properly. I'm puzzled why I am a paying customer for this terrible "upgrade".

Am I the only one having problems?

Following your advice, now half the tracks in my playlist are OK, the other half not (random). Using the exact same method of adding for each one.

Apple Music is working fine, so I guess just quit Spotify then?
