My Question or Issue
Every time the app fully closes, the equalizer automatically turns itself off (or reduces its effect) and I have to go into the settings and tweak each individual frequency so it turns back on. This also happens whenever I reach the end of a song or playlist and start playing something else. The same thing happens on both of the devices I’m using. Uninstalling the app does not solve the problem.
Hi there @JNV9248! Thanks for posting in the Community! 🌟
I've tested on my end and couldn't replicate this behavior. I understand you already reinstalled the app, however, I'd recommend a clean reinstall as this is more thorough than a regular one and can help get rid of any cache that might be causing trouble on your device.
Please, let me know how it goes!
/Mateus
I followed the steps to performing a clean reinstall and the same issue is happening.
Thanks for getting back @JNV9248!
Can you send me the Spotify version you're using?
Keep me in the loop.
/Mateus
I’m using version 9.0.10 on both devices.
Thank you @JNV9248! ✨
Can you ask a friend or relative to log in to your affected devices and see if the same issue occurs with a different account?
Also, could you let me know if this started happening after a specific event, like an update, or if you always experienced this issue on your devices?
Keep me posted!
/Mateus
I tried using a different account on another iPhone on iOS 16.0 using a new account and it has the same issue after closing and reopening the app. I think it started around 3 months ago if not earlier.
Thanks @JNV9248!
Can you check if you've disabled the Background App refresh setting for Spotify on your devices? If so, can you turn it on to see if that helps?
If the issue still persists, can you record a quick video and share it with us to see if maybe we're missing some additional steps you're taking?
Keep me posted on how this goes.
/Mateus
I made sure Background App Refresh is on.
Hey there @JNV9248! Thanks for getting back to us and for sharing a quick video so we can take a closer look.
Maybe the Bluetooth connection may be causing this issue. Could you try disconnecting from it and then testing again to see if the problem persists?
Let me know how it goes!
/Mateus
The problem still occurs when bluetooth is disconnected.
Hey @JNV9248! Thanks for keeping me in the loop!
Can you check if your device's OS has any pending updates to ensure everything is up to date? If there aren’t any, try replicating the issue using both WiFi and mobile data to see if there’s any difference.
You can also try it in offline mode to see if the same happens.
Looking out to your reply!
/Mateus
My phone is up to date and I tried it with each different mode. It seems to be a bug on Spotify’s end.
Thanks @JNV9248!
I see you're running an outdated OS version. If you haven’t updated it yet, could you try updating to the latest one (18.3) and check if the issue persists?
After that, please send us the exact make/model, OS version, and Spotify version of all affected devices. We’ll pass this info along to the right team for further review.
That said, I’d like to mention that we can’t guarantee a specific timeframe for when or if this will be addressed. However, we recommend keeping your app up to date to ensure you don’t miss any improvements or fixes in the future.
Hope this clears things up!
/Mateus
