Extreme stream quality even when Normal is selected

Extreme stream quality even when Normal is selected

I really love Spotify, but this bug is absolutely destroying my monthly data allotment. I was curious as to how I was blowing through gigs of data in a matter of days with my stream quality set to Normal. So, with that said, I did a little test and monitored the amount of data streamed in order to play the same song through once on Normal and once on Extreme. The amount of data used is literally identical with the slight variation being from a few iMessages that came in while I was listening. So, what I can discern from this information is that normal isn't streaming at a lower quality at all!! It's actually streaming at the highest quality all the time! This REALLY needs to be fixed immediately!!

Thanks! That DID make a noticeable difference. 😄 Although, I plan on keeping a close eye on it to see if it starts creeping back up.

Hello!

Glad to see that your problem has been corrected. However why dont you download your music for offline play when you are connected to WIFI? Thus you dont need to worry so much about your data allowance. 🙂

Thanks! I don't like downloading my music because it takes up too much storage space. Between apps and photos of my family, I don't really have much room left. Plus I don't always know what I'll be in the mood to listen to, so I like to be able to just pick music as the mood strikes me. 🙂 I may try downloading a few things though just to offset it.

@Macatron The tracker app runs over VPN isn't it? Doesnt all that traffic run through their servers?

I'm not really sure what you're getting at. Can you please elaborate a little? Thanks. 🙂

@Macatron I'm just wondering how does the counters app manage to keep track of the data used.. because usually most of them will route all your internet services to this company.

@ jeremygoh My counters don't directly monitor Spotify, but it's the primarily app using data when I test. I just create a counter, name it and try stuff out. I do it several times to rule out any residual data use from other push notifications that happen to come in. It's not 100% accurate, but it's the best solution I've found to monitor specific usages. The app is called "Data Usage."

@Macatron I see! Thanks for the heads up.. Because most of the data counters I've found usually routes all my connections over their servers.. I'm not really comfortable with that though.
