Groundhog Day Bug: Spotify Repeats an Old Playlist After Each Song

Solved!

Groundhog Day Bug: Spotify Repeats an Old Playlist After Each Song

My wife and I are both having the same issue with Spotify. After we play a song from any playlist or album, Spotify automatically starts playing a random playlist from the past.

We’ve tried logging out from all devices and testing it in different ways—playing albums or playlists in order, with shuffle on or off—but the same thing keeps happening.

Every time we play one song, Spotify jumps right back to that same random playlist. It’s like Groundhog Day!

Plan

Premium Family

Country

Finland

Device

iPhone 16Pro, same issue happens at our Tesla car.

Operating System

iOS 18.3.1

My Question or Issue

How to get song playing back to normal. I don’t want to be pushed back to a random playlist after every song I have chosen.

Hi @palloilk,

Thanks for the reply.

This behaviour is quite strange and we haven't been able to reproduce this on our end thus far. Could you both please try to manually clear the queue and also check on your account pages and disable any third party apps that may have access to Spotify.

Let us know how it goes.

Reboot or reinstall has not helped. Back to same issue every time.

Hello how are you?

Welcome to the Spotify Community! I'm happy to have you here 🙂

It may be that a clean reinstall of your Spotify can solve your issue!
