My Question or Issue

Yes, seems downloads on my phone have come to what could be called an abrupt stop. It takes approximately 12 minutes to download one song on my iPhone. Songs on my old Android download in seconds. I left the phone on overnight with the screen on and only 134 of 314 songs have downloaded. My wifi is fast, no problems on the laptop or Android. I am downloading over wifi and cellular is turned off.

Phone has been restarted, cache has been cleared. I have not reinstalled the app because I do not want to lose the songs that I have already downloaded if this problem persists (and from reading round, it most likely will) but I am hopeful there is a solution here.

I am currently downloading song 164 of 314 and I am now on 17 minutes for this one song. Just restarted Spotify and now it says downloading 3/153. What gives here? Download quality is set to high, not very high. I have had this set to high for ages without any issues whatsoever.

Hi there @Moksha21,

Thanks for the post.

Sorry to hear that you're having trouble downgliding your songs on iPhone. There could be several factors causing this issue:

  • Not enough free space on your device. The Spotify app needs at least a few gigabytes to function properly on any mobile device. Make sure you have at least 2-4 GB of free space on your phone's internal memory when downloading the songs. If you have 82 GB of free storage, this shouldn't be a problem, but check the directories where Spotify is storing the downloaded cache anyways.
  • Make sure the app is granted all permissions in the device's app settings.
  • Finally, we strongly advice that you perform a clean reinstall of the app, following this guide. This will assure that all possibly corrupted app data and settings are cleared before reinstalling the app.
  • Something else you can check is if songs download normally when using mobile data if possible. This will help you isolate the cause of the issue.

Hope this helps.

I just got a new device and for a week it has not fully downloaded my songs this isn't normal. I had to go to the app settings and turn off to disable when not in use and clear cache. Now it's finishing the downloads. Not sure if this will help others but this helped me.
